The 24th edition of the National Art Competition Flamenco
increases its financial endowment and has a new
award for instrumentalists flamencos.

The parallel program includes a variety of performances and award-winning artists, such as flamenco dancer Mercedes de Córdoba, singer Rocío Márquez, and Germán López Galván's Empaque show.

The Municipal Institute of Performing Arts (IMAE) has presented the 24th edition of the
National Competition of Flamenco (CNAF), a historic event to be held in
Córdoba in the fall of 2025 and which remains alive through all the news of
this edition. Interested artists can submit their applications through the
the organization's website, where the rules are available.

The president of the IMAE, Isabel Albás, has announced the creation for the first time of the
“Contest for Instrumentalists Flamencos, a category that covers all types of
instruments, both acoustic and electronic. In this way, we give our due
space to flamenco more contemporary, which without losing sight of the roots, reaches others
audiences thanks to these new mixes of genres.”

This new category joins the already traditional sections: dance, cante and guitar.
The financial endowment of these prizes amounts to €79.000 in total, a sum never before
previously registered in the Contest.

Likewise, another of the new features of the twenty-fourth edition is the awards
exceptional prizes that will be awarded to the winners of each section. These
Prizes involve participation in the White Night of the Flamenco of Córdoba and in the
programming of the Córdoba Guitar Festival in its 2026 editions.

Registration process and contest phases

From this Thursday, July 30th, until September 28th, artists from around the world

The Admission Phase will take place from September 29 to October 19.
Jury members will review the applications and determine which applicants continue.

The IMAE proposes during the month of November an exclusive program around the
flamenco with award-winning shows and big names in dance and cante This

commemoration of the Day of Flamenco, declared 15 years ago by UNESCO as
Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The Córdoba Orchestra, conducted by Salvador Vázquez and accompanied by the guitarist
Daniel Casares will open this program on November 8 at the Gran Teatro.
On November 16th at the Góngora Theater there will be the show Empaque de la
Chicharrón Circus company Flamenco directed by Germán López Galván, who has
recently won the award for Best Show at the Performing Arts Fair
from Palma del Río.

The winner of the National Prize for Flamenco In 2013, the flamenco dancer Mercedes de
Córdoba, arrives on November 12 at the Gran Teatro with its show Olvidadas (at
without a hat), which received the Lorca Award for Best Show Flamenco.
Likewise, the singer Rocío Márquez, winner of the Lámpara Minera at the Festival del
Cante de las Minas, will perform on November 20 at the Góngora Theater, along with
