THE CARPIO HERITAGE
Several connections between gypsy singing families have made La Plazuela de Jerez a rich spring of depth for at least two centuries. From one of them, the one formed by the couple Alfonso Carpio 'el Berenjeno' and María Gallardo de los 'Chalaos', comes a good part of the lineage that will stage the show 'La Herencia de los Carpio' on July 26th. A gallery of sounds collected by some of Alfonso and María's grandchildren, as our guests at Espacio Expoflamenco: Alfonso son of Mijita from Jerez, El Tolo son of Pilar or José 'El Berenjeno', who has brought them together. They will be accompanied by their uncle 'Aoño', brother of El Garbanzo de Jerez and Domingo Rubichi along with other cousins such as Alfonso Montoya in coordination tasks. What is called a dynasty by right. His visit left the mark of his way of being and of being in life and the cante.
