GUIRIJONDO 2024- Carmela Riqueni

The last moment of the night was starred by the Sevillian resident in PaloCarmela Riqueni, the local dancer with a renowned artistic career. Niece of guitarist Rafael Riqueni, took the stage accompanied in the back by an exceptional group. On guitar, El Perla. And cante, three voices of moaning –José AnilloAntonio Amador and Miguel el Picúo—who knew how to accompany the movements that the dancer executed with mastery, feeling, and passion. Carmela is an artist, and in her steps she pours forth everything a flamenco dancer should possess: presence, connection, courage, and a knowledge that she reflects on her work. With an initial touch reminiscent of the passage of time, her repertoire tonight began with a taranto performed in the soleá and alegría styles, followed by a tribute to La Niña de los Peines and her bamberas. She finished with bulerías to the delight of the audience, who bid her farewell with resounding applause.
