Paths Series with Jose Maria Castaño #130
The Rafael Simancas cultural centre in Rute recently hosted the premiere of the documentary 'My country is freedom'. The film was directed by Joaquín Mimbrero and the script by Elena Bermúdez. The Zambra district of the Cordoba town was chosen, after an inaugural screening in Aznalcollar, due to the relationship between its festival and the flamenco singer. (The cover photo, by Antonio Gómez Domínguez, is the one used to advertise the documentary on its official poster)
For this reason, playing with the words of the title, I wanted to make a small sound tribute to the figure of José Domínguez Muñoz el Cabrero. And what better way to remember that historic episode that was the Paris concert of 1994, which was released on disc shortly after. By the way, it is 30 years since that legendary event. He is accompanied by the guitar of Paco del Gastor and in its content we hear fandangos from Huelva, both at the beginning and at the farewell, siguiriyas and a sonnet in bulerías. The rebellious and free voice of el Cabrero.
