The Chair of FlamencoCórdoba's logy presents its new programming

Diego Carrasco, Marina Heredia, Concha Calero, La Talegona, Juan Manuel Cañizares or El Selu are some of the artists who will be passing through the classrooms of the Chair of Flamencology of the University of Córdoba, which has presented its programming.

This is the twenty-ninth course for this veteran. Chair, which will celebrate its thirtieth anniversary in 2026. The course will open on Monday, November 24th, with a presentation by the guitar maestro. Juan Manuel Canizares, a guitarist with a dual role of composition and performance.

Your director, David Pino Illanes, has indicated that this year, as a novelty, the number of dance-related activities has been increased, responding to student demands. Thus, they will be included in the Chair Maria del Mar Moreno o Fuensanta La Moneta, among other artists. He also noted that in the module dedicated to the peñaThis year the invitation has been opened to peñas of the province of Seville, specifically, to the Peña Flamenca Torres Macarena of Sevilla and Peña Flamenca from the town of Cazalla.

David Pino has pointed out that, within the transversality of the studies offered by the Chair, a meeting will be held with El Selu, a carnival artist from Cadiz, who will be interviewed by Faustino NunezAnother of the highlighted activities will be the one offered by Merengue from Cordoba y Concha Calero, which was one of the winners last year in the second edition of the Córdoba Art Awards Flamenco.

With regards to Christmas Flamenco Gala, will be held, as usual, in the Great Theater of Córdoba On Monday, December 22, with the show Become de Alejandro Hurtado y Patricia guerreroAnother important date will be February 11, 2026, the day on which the III Córdoba Art Awards Flamenco, whose winners have yet to be revealed. The closing ceremony will take place on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, with Ezekiel Benitez y Chaparro from Malaga.

Regarding enrollment, Pino indicated that the registration period opened on Monday, October 6th, and is open until the 31st of this month. "Today, in just a few days, we already have 140 registrations." The director of the Chair noted that there are no academic requirements to enroll, only a desire to learn and delve deeper into the world of flamenco.

For his part, the Vice-Rector for Continuing Education, Employability and Entrepreneurship of the UCO, Antonio Arenas Casas, has highlighted the quality of the teaching program, thanks to the quality systems that the course has, which allows for collecting student evaluations and incorporating improvements and suggestions year after year. The vice-rector has recalled the training and informative component of the Chair, which differentiates it from other spaces such as the peñaTo reinforce this aspect, Arenas indicated that work is underway to ensure that interested students can pursue these studies as a microcredential next year, which entails receiving European accreditation.
