The session will be led by our colleague José María Castaño and will take place next Tuesday, March 26 (Holy Tuesday), at 11,30:XNUMX in the morning at the headquarters of Space expoflamenco, located in the Los Ramos Building on Diego Fernández Herrera street s/n. Workshop contents:
The first thing to do in these cases is to look at the etymology of the term, a question that clarifies certain aspects for us. Then, with exhaustive historical documentation, we will go to the prayers or chants of the monks to see how this prayer reaches the common people and ends up with the artists. flamencos. Given the theme of the saeta: the passion and death of Jesus Christ and the pain of Mary, his Mother, those melodies sought the expressive channels of tonás, martinetes and siguiriyas. Although we will see to what extent this is true.

Finally, through audio, we will study the forms that have come down to us in the main saetera schools, as well as the performers who have left a more notable mark. A viewing of videos with some significant examples rounds off the educational session with a question and answer session.
