To join in the commemorations of the centenary of the birth of the beloved Jerez poet, we share this interview with one of his sons. According to the family itself, Juan Bosco Gallardo Quirós, bears a strong resemblance to its progenitor in certain aspects. But its presence is more a result of his profound knowledge of his work, which he compiled under the title Florilegio.
The profile of Antonio Gallardo Molina (Jerez de la Frontera, September 27, 1925 - April 12, 2013) seems very versatile. He was well known as a lyricist and composer to great artists of copla and flamencoHe has registered more than 700 works with SGAE, appearing on albums by artists ranging from Lola Flores, Rafael Farina, and Rocío Jurado to La Paquera, María Vargas, and José Mercé, as well as contemporary artists such as Rosalía, to name just a few.
But his work also included photography, theatre, Holy Week proclamations and intimate poetry, as well as founding the first Flamenco Academy of CanteDance and Guitar from Jerez. We spoke about all of this with Bosco Gallardo, who currently works as a curator for the Andalusian Regional Government in Seville.
There will be a second part.
