The documentary 'Morente & Barcelona' will be presented

The Sala El Cachorro (Triana, Seville) will host the presentation of the documentary "Morente & Barcelona" on May 14th. Enrique Morente discovered a territory fertile for experimentation, to share with emerging artists, natives of Catalonia, such as Mayte Martín, Miguel Poveda, Juan Gómez Chicuelo or Ginesa Ortega, and found in the Taller de Músics a laboratory where he could put into practice encounters with jazz alongside Max Roach, Pat Metheny or Chano Domínguez.

Within the independent scene he worked with the New Yorkers Sonic Youth within the framework of the festival Primavera Sound, and its relationship with Leonard Cohen would result in Omega, a cult album recorded with fellow Granadans Nick lizard, which also began in Barcelona. Even so, whenever Enrique Morente has been mentioned, these events have tended to be ignored and silenced. As a result, the images of his exploits in Barcelona have been forgotten by "official" history.

This documentary, which will be presented on Wednesday, May 14 at 21 p.m. in the Sala el Cachorro, Calle Procurador, 19 in Triana (Seville), features the voices of Lluís Cabrera –founder of the Taller de Musics de Barcelona– and Fernando Gonzalez-Caballos –anthropologist, journalist, and cultural manager–. A documentary directed by the music journalist Jordi Turtos and produced by Elizabeth, which vindicates the relationships and ties thanks to which the Granada singer freed himself and broke the ties imposed by orthodoxy.
