The emblematic La Union Mining Museum (Murcia Region) was the scene of the exciting first final of the Juvenile Snub, one of the most anticipated events in the International Meeting of Schools of Flamenco and Spanish Dance, which has been celebrated in the town these days.
The semifinals demonstrated the high level of performances of the young participants, with powerful, technical, and emotional performances that made the jury's decision very difficult. The final was thrilling, with the finalists giving their all on stage and displaying promising talent.
The finalists were Paula Cabrera (Murcia), Matias Campos (Grenade), Rubén Guerrero (Malaga) and Claudia Sanchez (Madrid). The winner was ultimately Matías Campos, who captivated the audience and the jury with his strength, expressiveness, and authenticity.
The jury of this edition was composed of Paula Rodriguez, Desplante Award 2021, and Olga Llorente placeholder image, Desplante Award 2019. Two reference figures in Spanish dance and the flamenco, which evaluated the technique, interpretation and artistic personality of each of the finalists.
The event was attended by the Director General of Youth, Carmen Munoz, the mayor of La Unión, Joaquin Zapata, several councilors of the government team, the director of the International Festival of Cante of the Mines, Julio Garcia, and Ruben Calderon, from Flamencum Experience, the company that promotes the International Meeting of Schools of Flamenco and Spanish Dance.
The contest is thus consolidated as a key platform for the projection of new talents of the flamenco and strengthens La Unión's role as a cultural benchmark at national and international levels.
