Fiesta de la Bulería, reinvented once again

Two decades later, doubts and differences of opinion remain. Neither the bullring, nor the sports stadium, nor the Plaza Mamelón, nor the Alcázar were successful. This year, they have performed well in their debut venue, Plaza Belén in the San Mateo neighborhood.

Whether it's the poster, the coolers, the tickets, their duration, or the drinking party... They are words of Fran Pereira in 2014 when there was intense debate about the best format of the venerable Buleria FestivalIn 2002, seven thousand people filled the great bullring of Jerez and those present sang as one: Tooorta, Tooorta… There was a drinking atmosphere with over-booking, with the everlasting discussion surrounding the Bulería Festival when the popular singer was an absolute idol of the young fans of the time. The bohemian singer was more popular Juan Moneo Lara the Cake that flamenco itself.

Kriatura, an exciting cultural dream in Jerez by and for teenagers

April 13, 2026

And two decades later, the doubts and differences of opinion remain. Neither the bullring, nor the sports stadium, nor the Plaza Mamelón, nor the Alcázar had worked out. This year, the artists were good at their debut stage, the Bethlehem Square from the San Mateo neighborhood, where the Lola Flores Museum.

The first day of the program was like a festive, inclusive festival, complete with a children's program. A pataíta por bulerías class/flashdance was led by the Jerez-born maestro. Chiqui, and Eve of Christ offered a recital of cante with his energetic style.

On the second day, a middle-class audience filled the Plaza Belén, some playing palmas next to the sparkling painting of david lakes y Melchora Ortega, powerful he, lively she, with the guitars of Alfredo Lagos y Domingo Rubichi'sDavid pleased with his lively Marianas, a palo Normally sober, Melchora offered a varied buffet of songs including Kids, and Little laces He lent his voice to cante by right.

Thursday the 21st turned out to be chocante total. Three great artists, the popular Fernando Soto placeholder image, the explosive Mara Rey and the dear Choir of the Kings, they gave a repertoire of songs with a musical ensemble almost entirely in four-four time, and the bulería was left waiting in the wings in case it slipped in, something that happened all too rarely in this program of artists perfectly trained for the task.

"El Capullo is handling his 71 years well, and remains an idol for young and old alike thanks to his original personality, which he credibly displayed in this Bulería."

On Friday, there were finally bulerías for us addicts. The twelve beats that take away our sorrows in the time it takes to sing "ole!" Elu from Jerez She always reaches me, despite some off-key moments. She's flamenco and everything is forgiven. She shared the program The hubbub, who has the air of his father Manuel Moneo, which is saying something. Manuel de la Forge, sober and intense, and the guitars of Domingo Rubichi's y José Gálvez They skillfully rounded off the product.

On Saturday, the culminating day, the program was long and varied. Diego Carrasco Family It served as a backdrop for Diego himself, always with his personality and spontaneity at the forefront. He declared himself old and unable to remember his lyrics, but his natural demeanor saved him time and again. Maloko, Carmen Amaya, Fernando de la Morena Jr. and other regulars completed the menu.

The classic square format with each one taking their turn in front with cante and pataíta remains effective with the direction of a veteran like Antonio Malena that interspersed his cante classic to palo dry. Maria del Mar Moreno She performed with her dance as a guest artist, and the dancer Rocío Marín surprised us with his powerful and racial dance.

The Cocoon He is handling his 71 years well, and continues to be the idol of young and old thanks to his original personality, which he credibly defended in this Bulería.

Dolores Agujetas He had a good performance with Domingo Rubichi on the guitar, and in such a good mood, he went out to dance rumba at the end of the party with El Capullo.

And thus ends the Fiesta de la Bulería 2025.
