Honors to El Lebrijano in the Caracolá

The courtyard of the Old Convent of San Francisco (Lebrija) hosted the official presentation of the 61st edition of the event on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 26. Lebrijana Snail, one of the festivals flamencoThe event, one of the most prestigious and long-standing in Andalusia, brought together institutional representatives, artists, members of the organizing committee, and fans to unveil the festival's program and reveal the poster for this year's edition.

The event was presided over by the mayor of Lebrija, Pepe Barroso, together with the Deputy for Culture and Citizenship of the Provincial Council of Seville, Casimiro Fernández Linares, the deputy for Social Cohesion and Equality, María Encarnación Fuentesand the delegate for Culture, Heritage and Tourism, Pepe Martinez.

During his speech, the mayor highlighted the historical, cultural and sentimental value of the Caracolá Lebrijana, underlining Lebrija's role as one of the great references of the flamenco Andalusian. In this sense, he stated that “La Caracolá continues to defend a musical legacy with deep roots, enriched each year by the impetus of new creators of the cantethe music and the dancing, as well as the constant support of an audience that keeps this event on their summer calendar.” He also emphasized the commitment of the Provincial Council of Seville with the promotion and dissemination of flamenco, announcing that the Golden Snail of this 61st edition has been awarded to the provincial institution “for its history of unconditional support and for understanding that the flamenco It is the heritage of Seville and its surrounding villages.”

After the mayor spoke, Casimiro Fernández Linares took the floor. During his address, the provincial deputy made it clear that “joining a list of distinguished individuals that includes legends like María la Perrata, Inés Bacán, Curro Malena or Miguel Funi It is a true honor to be given to us by a municipality that is living culture and a land of flamencoFernández noted that “we are extremely pleased and happy that the name of the Seville Provincial Council is now even more closely linked to one of the great cultural landmarks of our province, La Caracolá de Lebrija.”

Fernández stated that “we are an institution that clearly understands that every euro we allocate to culture is not an expense, but an investment. An investment to build a better province, with a more critical and educated citizenry.” He also argued that “preserving our traditions and embracing current trends is essential. That is why we have worked diligently during this legislative term to increase the budget allocations that allow us to do so and help promote significant events such as La Caracolá.”

For his part, the delegate for Culture, Heritage and Tourism, Pepe Martínez, presented the complete program of the 61st Caracolá Lebrijana, which will be held from July 8 to 18, 2026, defining it as “a living heritage” and a cultural experience that transcends the stage to become a shared experience and a meeting place.

This year's program will include illustrated lectures, tributes, recitals, dance performances, and cante, training activities and cultural routes, with a firm commitment to the generational transmission of flamenco and the recognition of its great figures.

He also reminded everyone that all information about the festival, tickets and discounts – through the Amigo Card – are available on the official website www.lacaracolalebrijana.es.

During the event, the festival's promotional video was also shown and the official poster for the 61st edition, created by the Sevillian artist, was unveiled. Gonzalo Conradi López, winner of the IV Caracolá Lebrijana Poster Competition with the proposal entitled “Monument to Lebrija”. The author expressed his gratitude for the recognition and highlighted the inspiration provided by the cultural universe and flamenco from Lebrija.

The presentation concluded with a performance by Isabel Malena y Currito MalenaThe singer tempered herself with tientos, tangos, soleá por bulería and bulerías, drawing with her gypsy style the pentagram of Lebrija and putting the artistic finishing touch on an act that begins the new edition of the festival flamenco Lebrijano.

The presenters of the 61st Caracolá Lebrijana will be José Vargas Kilito, Álvaro Romero and Juan Garrido.
