La SGAE Foundation, in collaboration with the Grenada City Hall, celebrates the tenth anniversary of FlamencoYear 2025, your sample of flamenco for international programmers, within the framework of the I Biennial of Flamenco from Granada from 17 to 19 September 2025.
The programming will be divided into two different spaces. On the one hand, the Federico García Lorca Center will host six proposals that look at the flamenco purer and more traditional, represented in FlamencoEñe. On the other hand, a commitment to crossbreeding flamenco and subversive within the framework of FlamencoEñe Off, its most underground side, which will host the legendary Ground Floor Room.
In total, twelve formations that demonstrate the vitality of the flamenco current and, in addition to performing in front of a general audience, will have the opportunity to meet industry professionals from around the world. Thanks to its professional dimension, FlamencoEñe is consolidating its position as a platform for connecting Spanish creators with international programmers, invited by the SGAE Foundation to foster new collaboration networks and tours that promote the global reach of the genre.
Six artists with the most classic duende
Francisco Escudero “El Perrete”, José Luis Montón, Lucía Beltrán, Rafael de Utrera, Rocío Luna and Planeta Jondo They are the groups that make up the most orthodox programming of FlamencoEñe. The exhibition begins on Wednesday, September 17, with the grassroots voices of Francisco Escudero from Badajoz. The Dog, which will present Guide light, a magnificent opportunity to discover his new facet as a singer, and to Rafael de Utrera, with his show IntimateOn Thursday the 18th it will be the young woman's turn Lucia Beltran, who debuts with his work A walk through the cante, to enjoy the melismas of her voice accompanied by the deep notes of the flamenco guitar. The Huelva group will follow. Planet Jondo, which revisit the flamenco traditional from jazz and roots music. The young singer from Córdoba Dew Moon (winner of the Miner's Lamp in the Contest Cante of the Mines in 2023) and the project Ax Flamenco, a tribute to the Sevillian poet by Joseph Louis Monton, will put the finishing touch, on Friday 19, to three days to enjoy the best flamenco in one of the most emblematic settings in Granada.
Experimentation, protagonist of FlamencoEñe Off
Following the success of its three previous editions, FlamencoEñe Off once again offers the most experimental and contemporary side of the genre. Lara Wong and Melón Jiménez, Gypsy of Palo, Rezelo, Dechipén, Ruido Clavel and Sebastián Cruz will be responsible for exploring how the flamenco can engage with other styles without losing its roots. The event will be held from September 17th to 19th, starting at 21 pm and with free admission until capacity is reached, in the legendary venue Ground floor (Horno de Abad Street, 11).
The opening day of the miércoles 17 will feature the fusion between the flamenco and electronics with the world premiere of Ageflamenco, the new work of the duo formed by the Canadian flutist Lara Wong and the Spanish-German guitarist Melon Jimenez, that dives into the palos flamencothrough electronic pulses. That same night, the Coruña native Gypsy of palo will present his first and eclectic album Alaiar, which also fuses both genres. The next day it will be the turn of Pray, a merger project formed by Miguel Barrientos y Maria Bartolome that rethinks popular tradition from contemporary concerns. Later, the Jerez-based group Dechipén will reinterpret the most emblematic verses of the city of Cadiz through new and innovative sound horizons. The cycle will be completed by, viernes 19, the union of the voice and percussion of Helena Amado and the experimental guitar of Pedro Rojas Ogáyar in Carnation Noise (another exponent of the new copla that exposes its bastard spirit); and the singer Sebastian Cruz presenting its groundbreaking Saraband, an album in which he breaks with the strict flamenco tradition, drawing inspiration from Baroque music.
