The 52nd Festival Flamenco de la Mistela is committed to innovation

The Andalusian Institute of Flamenco hosted the presentation of the 52nd edition of the Festival Flamenco of the Mistela, which will be held in Los Palacios y Villafranca (Seville) from October 10 to 18. Juan Tomás de la Molía, Andrés Marín and Ana Morales, Rosario La Tremendita and Dorantes will perform.

El Andalusian Institute of Flamenco hosted the official presentation of the 52nd edition of the Festival Flamenco of the Mistela, which will be held in Los Palacios y Villafranca (Seville) during the weekends of October 10, 11, 17 and 18, in the Pedro Perez Fernandez Municipal Theatre.

Organized jointly by the City Council of Los Palacios y Villafranca and the Cultural Flamenco Gathering The Well of Sorrows, the festival is sponsored by the Culture Department of the City Council, the Provincial Council of Seville, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport through the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions, and the Andalusian Institute of Flamenco.

The presentation ceremony was presided over by the mayor of Los Palacios and Villafranca, Juan Manuel Valle, together with Enrique Duque, president of the Cultural Discussion Group El Pozo de las Penas, and Christopher Ortega, director of the Andalusian Institute of FlamencoThe participating artists were also present, as well as Jorge Manuel López Ruiz, author of the official poster, and the sculptor Jesus Gavira, author of the statuette of the Venencia Flamenca.

Mayor Juan Manuel Valle highlighted that "the Mistela is one of the great festivals flamencos of Andalusia and Spain", highlighting the excellent harmony between the City Council and the peña flamenca, key to the event's sustained success. He also thanked the various public administrations and sponsors for their involvement.

Enrique Duque reported that "the festival is on the verge of the 75th anniversary of our Tertulia, having consolidated a new stage format that has transformed some of the most traditional and veteran summer festivals into a stage program adapted to a new artistic reality of the flamenco already a new social environment of the populations that promoted them.”

First-class artistic cast

This year's program brings together prominent figures from the music scene flamenco current:

– Friday, October 10: Juan Thomas de la Molia, a young dancer from Trebujena, will receive the Venencia Flamenca al Baile 2025 and will present the show Vertebrates, 65 minutes of bulerías, directed by Manuel Linan.

– Saturday, October 11: Andres Marin and Ana Morales, 2022 national dance awards, will present Matarife/Paradise, a transgressive and very personal stage proposal.

– Friday, October 17: Rosario La Tremendita, singer, composer and instrumentalist from Triana, will offer her show Transit (Fleeing from the noise), accompanied by the guitar of Dani de Moron.

– Saturday, October 18: David Peña Dorants will close the festival with a concert commemorating the silver anniversary of his acclaimed work Orobroy, accompanied by the dancer Leonor Leal.

 

 

Art and symbolism in posters and exhibitions

The official poster for the 52nd edition, designed by Jorge Manuel López Ruiz, offers a contemporary vision of the flamenco, linked to the local identity of Los Palacios and Villafranca.

In addition, the festival will include the photography exhibition Flamenco. Open Source de Javier Caró, open to the public one hour before each show.
