El Jerez Off Festival de The Angel's Lair It served the first main course of its opening day. The proposal of Antonio Agujetas Chico, accompanied on guitar by the man from Lebrija Rycardo Moreno y John Medina, and the percussion by the Sanlúcar native Poty Trujillo, rounded out a unique, high-caliber lineup that left the audience that packed the room speechless and with goosebumps.
They formed a concert of flamenco jondoFresh and sensitive. Distinctive, with personality. The imp came to settle on the wickerwork of Antonio, an artist touched by the wand, continuer of the saga of the Agujetas that digs in its centers the renewal of canteHe's an old man with an exquisite palate. Everything he does sounds good to him. What comes from the heart, goes to the heart. And Antonio is peculiar; he sifts each of his lyrics with his left hand, chews them in his gypsy innards, and gives them a modern touch before taking to the stage.

Rycardo Moreno's guitar playing gave the whole thing a real kick. With its strummed notes, rounded drones, and incredible sound. One of them fretless, perfect for letting loose, filling its original and irreverent, yet effective, accompaniment with a unique musicality. It painted sweet garlands with its touch. And although I always find plugged-in guitars tinny, these crackled softly with harmony. So did Juan Medina's.
Antonio was filled with inspiration, entertaining himself by rummaging through the blood while testing the limits. Without straying from the norm, he combined his shifts with the melodies, linking each theme into a palo...or in several, revealing the depth of his talent. He thus performed granaínas, tientos, tangos, and seguiriyas. to blessed Lawrence from Lebrija and a cartridge of tonás with heartfelt lyrics, closing the recital with a couple of fandangazos from Huelva instead of bulerías, which Rycardo played solo, trapping us between the six bars of his sibylline low-rise.
I was left with Antonio's clenched fists complaining about the pile driver, accompanied by the rumble of Rycardo Moreno's brass instruments.Because it was sublime to fly low while the pain intensified. The craftsmanship of this Agujetas, the extraordinary percussion of Trujillo, two syrupy guitars… These four friends made me daydream about pure and clean splashes, “toxin-free,” of a flamenco new and good that clings to the past to look to the future.
