La Meeting of Cante Jondo from La Puebla de Cazalla, one of the longest-running and most prestigious events on the calendar flamenco, presented on Thursday, May 22 at the Andalusian Institute of Flamenco the poster of his 56th edition, which will be held next Saturday 12 of July at Hacienda La Fuenlonguilla and will feature great figures of the cante, the touch and dance like Carmen Linares, Rafael Riqueni or Eva Yerbabuena and first-class artists like Pedro El Granaíno, Encarna Anillo, Ana Ramírez 'La Yiya', Edu Espín, Salvador Gutiérrez, Patrocinio Hijo, Antonio Carrión and Pituquete.

Thus, without leaving aside the initial idea of its founders, the Moorish painter and poet, Francisco Moreno Galvan, and the cantaor Jose Menese, the Meeting of Cante Jondo It has been growing and diversifying, accommodating the different aesthetics that the universe encompasses. jondo current and becoming an example of “how the flamenco is capable of articulating and serving as a tool for social and educational transformation." Through, in this case, specific activities aimed at inmates of the Penitentiary Center, the workshops flamenco for the little ones or the VIII edition of the Youth Meeting of Cante Jondo.
«The Meeting of Cante Jondo La Puebla de Cazalla has established itself as a benchmark festival that has evolved to adapt to new demands and seek out new audiences without losing its essence.

Tribute to Moreno Galván
Specifically, the traditional meeting will celebrate a very special anniversary this year: the centenary of the birth of Francisco Moreno Galván (1925-1999), one of the great innovators of flamenco literature and a key figure for the Moorish fans who keeps his mark alive both in the defense of his concept of cante as in his aesthetics, maintaining even after his death his works that illustrate the posters of each edition.
To pay tribute to him, the event will feature one of the leading voices of flamenco, how is Carmen Linares, living legend of cante and teacher of all subsequent generations of artists jondos, who is now celebrating 40 years on stage.
On this occasion, he will also be accompanied by the unmistakable sonanta of another maestro, the Sevillian Rafael Riqueni, Andalusian Culture Award, National Critics Award, Giraldillo for Mastery at the XVIII Biennial of Flamenco and Compass of the Cante, among other recognitions, and author of works such as Child's Play, My Time, Seville Suite, Crystal Alcazar, Heritage o Maria Luisa Park, one of the albums that have marked the recent history of flamenco guitar.
Along with the teachings of Linares and Riqueni, you can enjoy three personal singers who defend their own echo, such as Peter the Granain, the Cadiz woman Incarnate Ring and the Moorish woman Ana Ramírez 'La Yiya', that will fill the courtyard of the Fuenlonguilla with their echo, a place that on this day is filled with the scent of aromatic herbs such as rosemary, thyme and lavender in an effort to keep the traditions of the gathering alive. They will be accompanied on this magical night by the guitars of Edu Espín, Salvador Gutiérrez, Patrocinio Jr., Antonio Carrión and Pituquete.
The icing on the cake, before the traditional end of the party, will be provided by the dancer Eva Yerbabuena, recently recognized with the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award, which is given to the world's leading figures in dance. The Granada native, who has been setting standards with her dancing for decades in major international theaters and festivals, will arrive here accompanied by her usual cast, with the complicit guitar of Paco Jarana, to delight the audience with a recital of flamenco intimate place where you can see her dance in all her splendor.
Precisely one of the objectives of the Meeting since its beginnings in 1967 has been to present this art without ornamentation, which is why it is committed to a simple, essential and direct aesthetic, and for the revitalization of the cante jondo, recovering the palos traditional ones that were taking a back seat and becoming an engine of social unrest.
