Last St. John's Day, June 24th, marked 25 years since the farewell to flamenco singer Manuel Soto Monje 'Sordera de Jerez'. This significant anniversary has prompted me to revisit the discographic milestones of this maestro from the Santiago neighborhood. The title of this space 'The elegance of the elf' It's the same one I used to write his biography back in 2005. Manuel Soto left behind a large and significant discography, and in this podcast I undertake their first records. Starting, as one would expect, with his participation in the Sing Jerez (Hispavox, 1967) and his fandangos from El Gloria. Two years later, he was recruited by You know for his RCA anthology, from which we listened to 'Varied Styles of Manuel Soto' together with Juan Cantero and Camarón de la IslaIn 1970, some shared drivesFor CBS, I paused at natural fandangos and soleá to finish, in 1971, with a live performance of siguiriyas in London recorded on an LP by the guitarist Paco Peña.
