Mercedes de Córdoba, Rosario La Tremendita, Israel Galván and 'Empaque': flamenco events in Córdoba

The week's cultural agenda is dominated by the shows framed within the XXIV National Art Competition Flamenco (CNAF) which takes place in the Gran Teatro and the Teatro Góngora.

El XXIV National Art Competition Flamenco (CNAF) The program of shows continues throughout November in Córdoba's theaters. This week's performers include Mercedes de Córdoba, Rosario La Tremendita, Israel Galván, and the Chicharrón Circo company. FlamencoAll of them with acclaimed productions and whose tickets can be purchased at the box office and at the website of the Municipal Institute of Performing Arts (IMAE).

On Wednesday, November 12, the Gran Teatro de Córdoba will host the performance of Forgotten (To the Hatless Ones), which won the 2025 Lorca Award for Best Spanish Show/Flamenco. The dancer Mercedes of CordobaMercedes de Córdoba, winner of the National Dance Prize in 2013, pays tribute to the women known as 'Las sin sombrero' (The Hatless Ones), great artists belonging to the Generation of '27. Together with her company, Mercedes de Córdoba has created an intimate space based on an imaginary encounter with the essence of those women.

Rosario La Tremendita He takes to the stage of the Góngora Theatre along with The Kaita to interpret MatanceraA performance that becomes an encounter between two worlds. A wild experience, according to the artist who won the Manolo Caracol Award at the 17th edition of the competition, that seeks the purity of emotions, moving away from political correctness. This intense dialogue between artist and audience will take place this Thursday, November 13th.

The dancer Israel Galvan commemorates the 20th anniversary of The Golden Age, who received the Award Flamenco Today 2005 for Best Dance Show. Classicism and avant-garde united from the very title of the show, created and performed by Galván, winner of the Vicente Escudero Award at the XIV edition of the CNAF.

To conclude the week, on Sunday, November 16, the award-winning show arrives at the Teatro Góngora. Packaging Materials, created by the flamenco dancer German Lopez GalvanThis is a show rooted in the poetry of the circus, the flamenco and humor, through an intuitive and contemporary dramaturgy of juggling, the cante, the rhythms and the word. It was recently awarded the prize for Best Show at the Palma del Río Performing Arts Fair.

Added to these shows is the day 'Let's talk about the National Stadium of Córdoba. Past, present and future', comprised of a colloquium with several personalities from flamenco and a flamenco performance, which will be held in the Centro Flamenco Phosphorite the November 14.

This open dialogue space will feature flamenco singers Julian Estrada, winner of the 15th edition of the Competition, and Rafael Montilla 'Chaparro', the radio professional Alfredo Asensi Díaz and the doctor in Musicology Alicia GonzálezThe meeting will be moderated by Guillermo Castro Buendia, PhD in Art History and Professor of Flamencology at the Higher Conservatory of Córdoba.

The flamenco performance, Córdoba in its purest form, will be performed by the singer carmen carmona, winner of the prestigious Golden Melon award at the 2025 edition of the Competition of Cante of the Mines, and Seve child, guitarist and National Guitar Award winner in the 20th edition.

Tickets for all shows in the National Art Competition Flamenco (CNAF) are available in teatrocordoba.es, at the box office of the Córdoba Theaters during their usual hours and in the APP – IMAE – Theaters of Córdoba, available for IOS and Android.
