More than seven thousand spectators support the IV Biennial of Flamenco from Cadiz, Jerez and Los Puertos

The event was dedicated to María Vargas and featured more than thirty proposals in eight towns across the province. The Biennial emphasized the flamenco more authentic.

La IV Biennial of Flamenco from Cadiz, Jerez and Los Puertos It closes its edition with a clearly positive balance: more than 7.000 people have attended the more than thirty proposals scheduled across eight towns in the province of Cádiz. A route that for weeks has focused on the flamenco more authentic in an edition dedicated to the singer from Sanlúcar Maria Vargas, one of the essential figures of cante Gypsy and living legend of this universal art.

The director of the Biennial, Mario González, emphasizes that this edition “has placed the flamenco root and to cante “Gypsy culture at the heart of the programming,” highlighting the importance of having María Vargas herself in her hometown of Sanlúcar de Barrameda. “We have had important events such as those of Peter the Granain in Puerto Real, Luis El Zambo, José Méndez, José El Mijita or Gema Carrasco in Jerez, or Jose of the Shrimps in Chipiona,” he points out. In this sense, González emphasizes that the Biennial has managed to “reaffirm the relevance and strength of a flamenco that is born from the earth and from memory.”

Dance has also occupied a prominent place in the program, with names such as Abel Harana, David Nieto, Macarena Ramírez, Carlos Carbonell o María PoquetArtists who have contributed to creating a varied and balanced offering among cante and dance. Alongside these, there were lectures given by renowned specialists such as Manuel Martín Martín, Joaquín López Bustamante o Susanne Zellinger They have provided an analytical and informative perspective that has enriched the public's view.

One of the distinguishing features of this edition has been the involvement of spaces of high symbolic value for the flamencoGonzález thus highlights emblematic places such as the interpretation centers of Paco de Lucía, in Algeciras, or the one in Camarón de la IslaIn San Fernando, which have hosted recitals, conferences, and roundtables, becoming “active witnesses” of the Biennial. “Once again, we wanted to project the image of a flamenco "Deep-rooted, authentic, which Cádiz champions and which continues to position the province as an international benchmark for fans," the director emphasizes.

The organizers consider the event "very satisfactory," celebrating the public's response and the project's consolidation. González expressed his gratitude for "the support of the attendees, the artists, and the public institutions," including the participating city councils, the Cádiz Provincial Council, and the Andalusian Regional Government. He also announced that work is already underway on the next phase. XNUMXth edition of the Biennial, which will be held in 2027, with the aim of continuing to broaden horizons and reinforcing the province's role as one of the major epicenters of flamenco.
