Manuel Liñán and Miguel Poveda star in the new edition of the series "Lorca and Granada."

Two grand galas, the first with Aurora Vargas, Lole Montoya, and Lela Soto, and the second with El Pele, Farruquito, and Diego del Morao, will celebrate the 600th anniversary of the arrival of the Roma people. José Mercé will give the closing concert on August 30.

The 24th edition of the cycle Lorca and Granada in the Generalife Gardens This year, the main performance will be by the dancer and choreographer Manuel Linan, National Dance Award, with his work Call me Lorca. Liñán will present his unique flamenco version of Lorca's symbolism from August 1 to 16. Another National Prize winner, this time for Music, will be Miguel Poveda, who will take the path marked by the Granada writer to the Alhambra stage from August 21 to 23 with his show There were a thousand Federicos.

Accompanied by the director of the Board of Trustees of the Alhambra and Generalife, Rodrigo Ruiz-Jimenez, and some of the artists who will be performing at this open-air stage, Macarena O'Neill has announced that the 24th edition of this cycle will commemorate two anniversaries: the fifteenth anniversary of the declaration of the flamenco as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the arrival of the Roma people to Spain and Andalusia 600 years ago.

Program and tickets

On August 1st, the Granada-born dancer and choreographer Manuel Liñán will debut on the stage of the Alhambra Call me LorcaThe artist will bring the essence of the poet to the stage with a performance that personifies Lorca's imagery, giving body and soul to the symbols, emotions, and landscapes that inhabit his poetic universe. This will be a new performance that will serve to connect the audience with "the inexhaustible and universal work of Federico García Lorca," said Liñán. National Dance Prize winner and recent Talía Award winner for Best Male Dance Performer, Liñán will be on stage for twelve days, from August 1st to 16th. His performance will feature the special collaboration of Curro Albaicin and falete, in the performances on August 1, 7, 14 and 15.

Specifically, on August 28th, the flamenco singers will take to the stage at the Generalife. As the icing on the cake, the singer from Jerez Jose Merce will close the cycle on August 30 with a recital in which he will pay tribute to his fellow countryman, the composer Manuel Alejandro, covering some of their most iconic songs.

The "Lorca and Granada in the Generalife Gardens" program was launched in 2002 with the aim of complementing Granada's summer cultural programming with a theatrical offering inspired by Federico García Lorca. In the 23 editions held, the public has been able to explore the poet through dance, music, acting, and video creation.
