Designers have once again made a nod to traditional craftsmanship through crochet, crochet pieces, fringes, lace, transparencies, sequins and embroidered flowers. Incorporating urban fashion trends: shoulder pads, bows, belts, jackets…”

“There was a lot of silk muslin. Fabrics with body and very soft, while cotton or poplin were less present. The cut goes up to the waist, gaining volume from almost the middle of the torso. The layers are imposed in different versions: alone, half layers or baskets. It highlights a complicated and difficult work that sets trends. Creativity has moved from the skirts to the top: necklines and sleeves. Also, on the heads of flamenco dancers. Earrings and flowers in size oversize take centre stage. In addition, the bead necklace has been brought back, in coral and colours,” explained Pedro González, artistic director of SIMOF.
This year the highlights are: Custom fabrics with original prints, both geometric and floral. Also, gingham and stripes. The firms have opted for fabrics with a great drape, such as knit and crepe. The former provides elasticity, while the latter does not wrinkle or lose colour. Polka dots have evolved: from an orderly and perfect design to a more unstructured, irregular and smaller version.
