The highly anticipated awards ceremony was held on Thursday, April 30th. Córdoba Art Awards Flamenco, granted by the Chair of Flamencoology of the University of Cordoba which has the support of the Caja Rural del Sur FoundationThe serious weather situation that Spain, and more specifically Andalusia, was going through, and the delicate state of the communication and transport routes forced the organization to postpone the February date to the last day of April, with which incidentally the course of the Chair was closed.
The ceremony took place in the Rectorate's auditorium, with a large audience in attendance and most of the award winners present. The only one unable to attend was... Rocío Molina, awarded with the Teaching in the dance category. She apologized through a video she sent for the occasion, in addition to the words of thanks that in situ pronounced Nuria LeivaThe choreographer, a dance teacher at the Luis del Río Professional Dance Conservatory in Córdoba, represented the company on this occasion. She acknowledged that she was available for the original date, but the change made it impossible for her to attend.
Before Rocío took the stage, others performed on a spring afternoon with perfect weather, the streets of Córdoba filled with the sounds and scents of the May Crosses festival. The first to speak were—after a welcome from the presenter, who is writing these lines— david pine, director of the Chair of Flamencolodge; María Dolores Moreno, responsible for the Caja Rural del Sur Foundation in Córdoba; and Manuel Torralbo, rector of the University of Córdoba. The speeches were concise and aspirationalwishing to grow these awards and the rest of the activities year after year.

Francisco Prieto currito He offered the first few musical minutes with his guitar. Before him were the award winners, no easy task to manage. And now, the awards ceremony began, starting with the Córdoba Art Prize. Flamenco Scentia, modality of Dissemination of the National Art Competition Flamenco From Cordoba. The local delegate for Culture and Historical Heritage went up to greet him, Isabel Albas Vives, and Luis Flores, manager of the Municipal Institute of Performing Arts of Córdoba.
Faustino Nunez was worthy of Scentia in the Research category. A video, as with the others, traced the extensive career, publications, lectures, and contributions to performances that the Galician artist has developed since his youth, sharing moments with Gades and Morente, to name just a few of his many acquaintances. Furthermore, it is worth highlighting Faustino's strong connection with the Chair of Flamencologia for years.
After Rocío Molina's performance, another soleá by Currito and the surprise of cante by tonás of Shen Wang, a 3rd-year student in the Course of Cante Flamenco from the Rafael Orozco Higher Conservatory of Music in Córdoba, originally from China. Now it's the turn of Marina HerediaIn the form of canteThe flamenco singer from Granada gave a very emotional thank you and remembered those who made it possible for the flamenco I arrived at the University, and all of us who are here now and those who will arrive in the future. The last to receive the medal was Victor Monge serranitoIn the guitar style, as always with an open and relaxed attitude, approachable and fun, even dancing to bulerías in his thanks.
Antonio Arenas, Vice-Rector for Continuing Education, Employability and Entrepreneurship at the University of Córdoba (UCO), closed the series of speeches to make way for the extensive presentation by Sara Dénez –Award of Cante of the National Art Competition Flamenco from Córdoba 2025–, standing out for its mountain music and accompanied by Luis Medina's guitar and the palmas By Richard Gutiérrez and Alberto Parraguilla. ♦
