At the traditional Christmas carol gathering held by its members every Advent, the San Mateo neighborhood organization made the great gesture of reclaiming the past of the Los Juncales Cultural AssociationAn organization that was headquartered on Nueva Street in the Santiago neighborhood and that, during its years of activity, achieved one of the most renowned Christmas celebrations in the city.

If the delivery of I Carnation of Good People It had undeniable value; perhaps the most celebrated aspect of the event was bringing together a good number of its members. It's true that some are no longer with us, but it was very moving to see them together again, performing in unison for such a meaningful moment. Pacote GarridoAs president of Los Juncales, he accepted the award on behalf of everyone. And alongside him were emblematic members of the organization such as Enrique and Juañares de los Zambos, Agustín Vega, Luis Zarzana, Rafael Vaca, Curro and Pepe de Joaquina, Gregorio Fernández and Rafael RomeroThey joined them with their guitars. Jesus Grabbed the Guard y José GálvezAll of them, as that album produced by said Tere PeñaThey achieved a few moments of glory.

"The Los Juncales Cultural Association was based on Nueva Street in the Santiago neighborhood and during its years of activity achieved one of the most renowned Christmas celebrations in the city."

At the beginning of the tribute, I had the honor of dedicating a few simple words to Los Juncales, evoking those encounters in The Cloisters of DomecqToday Fundador Wineriesand at the headquarters on Nueva Street itself. Those presentations of the Golden Reed to the cream of the arts flamenco and bullfighting of the country or the Zambomba that they wrote to them in the Villamarta Theater Antonio y José gallardo with the title From Jerez to New York.

There was also a loving nod to some Juncales who are no longer with us, such as Manuel Moreno Junquera 'Moraíto' o Rafael Fernández Suárez 'el Nene', Among others, those who were the driving force behind that renowned organization. It's worth noting that it sought to preserve the customs and culture of the Roma people of Santiago after they migrated to the outlying neighborhoods. That meeting place, which was even reflected in the lyrics of Miguel PovedaIt is remembered as an epicenter of true Gypsy culture. This act of the Good People did justice and honor to that ephemeral but luminous existence.
