The Union (Region of Murcia) once again demonstrated why it is a national benchmark of flamenco more authentic with the celebration of the XXXIII National Saeta Competition and Cantes Miners of Passion, the only one in Spain that combines the saeta and the cante miner in the context of Holy Week.
La Church of Our Lady of the Rosary It was transformed into a stage laden with symbolism thanks to the careful artistic direction of Esteban Bernal, which enveloped the temple in an awe-inspiring atmosphere.
The scent of incense, the smoke hanging in the air, the dim lighting, the red fabrics draped from the altar, and the simple yet elegant rush-seated chair adorned with a delicate mantilla, along with the candles surrounding the entire space, created a scene of exquisite delicacy. The mantilla, the silences, and the contemplation of the congregation completed the intimate and solemn atmosphere, where each cante It acquired an almost spiritual dimension.
In this unique context, the finalists offered high-level performances, demonstrating the validity and depth of a tradition that is part of the identity of La Unión and that has consolidated this competition as the most important in Spain in its genre.
