One of the most special moments of the day was the unveiling of this year's poster, a work by local artist Manuela Román Gallego. It is an oil painting of great expressive power, featuring Manuel Cordero himself as the central figure, accompanied by the symbolic presence of a guitar and a flamenco dancer, elements that envelop the scene in a distinctly flamenco atmosphere. The artist sought to capture not so much a physical portrait, but rather "the essence of the quejío, that intimate and universal lament that defines the soul of the flamenco artist." flamenco».

Tere Peña He outlined the program for the 35th edition of La Yerbabuena, which will once again bring together prominent figures from flamencoconsolidating itself as one of the essential events of the Andalusian cultural summer.

The Yerbabuena

As stated on the posters, "the festival Flamenco La Yerbabuena was founded by a group of friends, artists, and lovers of this universal art, among whom were Pedro de Miguel, Juan Peña The Lebrijano, Juan Bernabé Britto, Paco Cotto y Miguel AcalIts origins date back to 1969 and it later became a significant artistic event on a night of cante It was launched on June 24, 1970. Its success led critics to rank it among the most prestigious festivals. Throughout its many editions, numerous artists of diverse genres have graced the festival stage, and many others have been honored with the famous 'Silver Mint' award, including Jose Maria Peman, Juan Peña The Lebrijano, Dew Sworn, Victorio and Luccino, Jose Merce, Juan Bernabé Britto, Paco Cotto, José Martín de Vargas, Pepa Montes, Fernando bravo, Juan Pedro de Miguel, Rosa Quiñones, Antonio Sánchez Concha and many more." To which the filmmaker has been added in recent editions Benito zambrano or the critic of flamenco Miguel Acal.

Manuela Román Gallego, the author of the poster

The promotional brochure reads: “This year’s poster for the Yerbabuena Festival was created by local artist Manuela Román Gallego, a self-taught painter with extensive experience in group and solo exhibitions. She has also designed posters for the San Juan Festival, the September Fair, the Sacramental Brotherhood, the Rocío Brotherhood, and the most recent poster for the 2026 International Women’s Day Program. Furthermore, this year she was awarded the Cabeceña Woman Recognition in the arts, a highly prestigious distinction given by the Las Cabezas de San Juan Local Equality Council.”

"Her style oscillates between hyperrealism and impressionism. And although many who know her work describe her as a portraitist, due to the power and expressiveness of her portraits, her work offers a wide range of subjects, from landscapes and seascapes to portraits, religious art, and more. But all of it is imbued with that special light of our land, Andalusia." The poster is not intended as a portrait of the honoree, Manuel Cordero, but rather of the lament that seems to come from the depths of a broken soul, expressing itself as only he knows how. flamenco. The guitar and the gypsy woman (…) are elements of the atmosphere that envelops that magical night, so intertwined in our culture and our hallmark, which is Yerbabuena.” ♦
