Throughout its 23 editions, audiences have enjoyed performances that fuse art, history, and emotion in a unique setting.

The "Lorca and Granada in the Generalife Gardens" program was launched in 2002 with the aim of complementing Granada's summer cultural programming with a theatrical offering inspired by Federico García Lorca. In the 23 editions held, attendees have been able to enjoy a unique cultural and artistic experience, set against the backdrop of the historic monuments of the Alhambra and the Generalife.

The 1th edition of the 'Lorca and Granada in the Generalife Gardens' series will feature this year's main performance by flamenco dancer and choreographer Manuel Liñán, National Dance Prize winner, with his work 'Llámame Lorca'. Liñán will present his unique flamenco version of Lorca's symbolism from August 16 to XNUMX. Meanwhile, another National Prize winner, this time for Music, Miguel Poveda, will bring the Alhambra to the stage. between August 21 and 23, following the path paved by the Granada writer with his show “Había mil Federicos”.

This was announced today by the Deputy Minister of Culture and Sport, Macarena O'Neill, during the presentation of the series at the Generalife Palace. "Fully established in the summer calendar, for the public both inside and outside Granada, this program enhances the cultural offering of our community and, in addition, builds the city, as it has a significant economic impact both on Granada and on the cultural industry of the region." flamenco", O'Neill said.

"In 2025, we will once again delve into the public-private partnership model, which, as reflected in the data from past editions, has yielded optimal results. We want to continue growing and offering the public the latest creations based on the inexhaustible author of 'Poem of the Cante Jondo' and 'Theory and Game of the Duende'”, the deputy minister endorsed.

Accompanied by the director of the Board of Trustees of the Alhambra and Generalife, Rodrigo Ruiz-Jiménez, and some of the artists who will be performing at this open-air stage, Macarena O'Neill has announced that the 24th edition of this cycle will commemorate two anniversaries: the fifteenth anniversary of the declaration of the flamenco as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as the arrival of the Roma people to Spain and Andalusia 600 years ago.

To celebrate the 600th anniversary of the arrival of the Roma people to Spain, the cycle has scheduled two shows. Specifically, on August 28th, the flamenco singers Aurora Vargas, Lole Montoya, and Lela Soto will take to the stage at the Generalife in the show "Cantaoras." The following day, the event will feature El Pele, Farruquito, and Diego del Morao, with the show "Romancero," which combines the essences of Córdoba, Seville, and Jerez through the cante, of dance and of touch.

As a grand finale, Jerez-born singer José Mercé will close the cycle on August 30 with a recital in which he will pay tribute to his fellow countryman, composer Manuel Alejandro, by covering some of his most iconic songs.
