The first of the summer courses at our Jerez headquarters is now underway. It will be held on the day pointed out Santiago, on July 25th, in a single session. Registration is open, but places are limited. Here you can find all the course information and how to register.
Course objectives:
An in-depth study of the soleá forms attributed to the singer Mercedes Fernández Vargas (Jerez de la Frontera, 1840 – Utrera, 1912). Known artistically as La Serneta or La Sarneta, she left behind seven different variations of the cante We'll review them one by one thanks to the recordings left by great masters, especially at the beginning of the 20th century. Unfortunately, Merced left no recordings, hence we speak of attribution and not direct authorship. Each of his soleá variants has correspondences with other styles within the same genre. cante which will also be studied. Its content is aimed at anyone interested.
