About Juan Medina

John Medina is a guitarist and composer of flamenco, recognized for his virtuosity and innovative approach within the genre flamenco. Over the years, he has continued to consolidate his career, remaining true to his unique and authentic style.

Five years ago, in an unexpected twist of fate, Juan Medina left his stage as Juanito Makandé to reconnect with the flamenco guitar. He soon discovered that, with daily study and perseverance, this noble instrument could become a powerful tool for storytelling.

Now, continuing with this artistic process, he publishes and presents Fleeting (2025, Satellite K). A selection of ten compositions that move between the flamenco, jazz, neosoul and various world music.

On his 2025 tour, Juan Medina's flamenco guitar meets jazz in a unique experience. A sound that grabs and won't let go. A unique repertoire with his own compositions.

Juan Medina plays the guitar so he won't die. He loves forests, the shade of their trees, early spring, deep autumns, fiery skies, and he tirelessly seeks melodies. He is a constant observer of everyday beauty. And this is reflected in Fleeting, his new recording project, sailing with another wind, the jazz.
