The Art Biennial Flamenco The Provincial Council has scheduled 38 shows and recitals, of which 23 are free to the public.
President Francisco Salado announces that Luisa Palicio, with the premiere of 'The Maharani', will open the opening gala at the Cervantes, which will award Gonzalo Rojo.
'I am a gypsy' closes the Biennial on August 2 with Duquende, Pedro El Granaíno, Farruquito and the Malaga Symphony Orchestra.
Manuela Carrasco, Aurora Vargas, Antonio Reyes, Jesus Mendez, Jose de la Tomasa, La Lupi, the Ballet Flamenco from Andalusia and Bonela will also be present at this ninth edition

The president of the Provincial Council, Francisco Salado, presented the IX Art Biennial this morning. Flamenco of Málaga, which will take place from May 27 to August 2 in 26 municipalities of the province. The graphic design for the Biennial has been entrusted to the Malaga-based company Tiquismiquis, which has delved into the history of past festivals to rescue that typeface, now in disuse, and showcase it in the posters and graphic material for this ninth edition.
Premieres to open and close the Biennial
The program is broad and varied, combining youth and experience. It is estimated that nearly 200 artists will be participating in the Biennial, including Manuela Carrasco, Farruquito, Aurora Vargas, Duquende, Pedro El Granaíno, Antonio Reyes, Jesús Méndez, José de la Tomasa, Luisa Palicio, La Lupi, Bonela Hijo, and Pastora Galván, among a long list of artists.
The President of the Provincial Council highlighted the four major shows that comprise the main focus of the program. On May 27, the Biennial will open at the Cervantes Theater with the world premiere of "La maharaní," performed by Luisa Palicio's company. It features guest artists such as Pasión Vega, La Macanita, Carrete, Chato de Málaga, and El Remache. At this opening gala, the Biennial award will be presented to flamencologist Gonzalo Rojo for his long career in promoting flamenco. flamenco.

Manuela Carrasco and artists with 'Identity'
Although Manuela Carrasco has been sparing her performances, she wanted to be at the Málaga Biennial for another year and has prepared a premiere, surrounded by excellent artists. 'Bailando a Manuela' will bring together on July 26th in Ojén Pastora Galvan, Gema Moneo, Zamara Carrasco, Manuela Carrasco daughter and Saray de los Reyes.
On August 1st, the new auditorium in Coín will host some of the greatest artists with their own identity. Aurora Vargas, Antonio Reyes, Jesús Méndez, and flamenco dancer Manuel Carpio will bring the purity and gypsy spirit of the flamenco.
On June 28, the Biennial will bring a show to Alcazabilla Street in the traditional format of flamenco which will be performed by José de la Tomasa, Vicente Soto 'Sordera', Juana la del Pipa and Concha Vargas.
Francisco Salado also highlighted the debuts of Málaga artists Francisco Vinuesa, La Lupi, Ana Almagro, Rubén Lara, and Luisa Chicano. Guest artists in various shows include Rocío Molina, Pasión Vega, Carrete, La Macanita, Manuel Liñán, Alfonso Losa, Chato de Málaga, and El Remache.
Ana Fargas and Paco Javier Jimeno will be performing 'Fallen Leaves' in Álora, and Isabel Guerrero will be performing 'Peinaora' in Almáchar. Meanwhile, flamenco dancer Sandra Cisneros will be playing María Zambrano in 'María de mis entrañas' in Alhaurín el Grande, while the Jerez family of Los Mijita will be held at the Ronda Wine Centre.
Quotes as a preamble to the Biennial
Flamenco harpist Ana Crisman will perform a concert in Alhaurín de la Torre alongside flamenco singer José Valencia. Bonela Jr., meanwhile, has joined organists Antonio del Pino and Jorge García Martín to perform "Barroco" flamenco' in churches in Antequera and Macharaviaya, respectively. The Biennial also resumes the cycle 'Flamenco de altura', from the Hotel AC Málaga Palacio, with five recitals, and collaborates with the X International Camp of Flamenco and Dance Spain for Young Values, which will take place at the CEULAJ of Mollina, as well as with the masterclasses of the International Seminar of Flamenco 'City of Malaga', in collaboration with the School of Flamenco of Andalusia.
Documentaries and exhibitions
On the other hand, a documentary series will be held on five Tuesdays in July at the María Victoria Atencia Provincial Cultural Center. The screenings will include "Quixote in New York" with Carrete; "Fandango," "Ana Delgado: Memories of India," "Fosforito: A Story of flamenco' and 'Zambra.
The Provincial Council Art Museum (MAD) in Antequera will host joint exhibitions by two leading artists: David Vaamonde in sculpture and Javier Caró in photography.
