El Utrera City Hall, through the Delegation of Culture and Historical Heritage, has inaugurated the Bambino Corner, a commemorative space located in the municipal cemetery and dedicated to the memory of Miguel Vargas Jimenez, known artistically as KidsThis new enclave is a tribute to one of the city's most emblematic figures, whose unmistakable voice and unique style left an indelible mark on the history of flamenco and music.
The opening ceremony was attended by the mayor of Utrera, Francisco Jimenez, the delegate for Culture and Historical Heritage, María José García, various authorities, the artist's family, and residents of Utrera who wanted to pay tribute to the local singer. During the ceremony, the guitarist Ramon Priego, linked to the brilliant singer since his childhood, performed several pieces in his memory, moving with I try to forget you o Virgin of Consolation.
Francisco Jiménez emphasized in his speech that "with this inauguration, we give this place the prestige that Miguel Vargas has and that he gives to Utrera." During the inauguration, the first of the two monuments that will become part of Utrera's cultural heritage was presented: a life-size bust made of cast bronze by the sculptor José Francisco Blasco Rivero, who donated it to the town. "I didn't hesitate to donate it when I was given the opportunity to do this work, because being able to do it myself is a gift that life has given me," explained the artist, who wanted to convey "peace and serenity" in his sculpture, without losing the elegance of Bambino's essence.
The bust has been installed next to the remains of the distinguished singer and those of his parents, in a place that will remain as an eternal tribute to his legacy. The Delegate for Culture, María José García, thanked those present and highlighted the symbolic nature of the place where it is located, "next to Fernanda and Bernarda, Enrique Montoya and Child from Utrera».
