This is now the eighteenth edition of the course. flamenco organized by the Teacher Center (CEP) from Cadiz. The professor and flamencologist Fernando Gallo He has once again been the course coordinator. 114 teachers have enrolled in the course.
In this edition, three centers were responsible for hosting the training. They are: CEIP Juan Carlos Aragón and Gadir in Cádiz and the IES Jorge Juan in San Fernando. The artists who have collaborated this year in spreading knowledge of different palos differentiated by geographical areas are the winner of the 2023 Miner's Lamp, Rocío Luna, Queen of Huelva y Esteban Guerrero Caracolillo from Cádiz and Susana Romero.
The first day concluded with a workshop led by José Romero, a student at Gadir School, and Daniel Romero. Along with him, flamenco singer Regina de Huelva – winner of the Alosno National Fandango Award – was responsible for introducing the teachers to the canteback and forth with the help of Miguel Chamizo's guitar. Guajira, milonga, Colombiana, and vidalita have been the focus of attention.
The second event was on May 14 at the Juan Carlos Aragón Primary School. The Cadiz percussionist Javier Katumba, a musician who has collaborated with artists such as Manuel Carrasco, Raphael, José Mercé, Vanesa Martín and India Martínez, among others, led a workshop. In addition, the singer Rocío Luna – winner of the Lámpara Minera 2023 award – introduced the cantes from Córdoba, distinguishing the alegrías of Córdoba and Cádiz and has reviewed the fandangos of Lucena.
The latest event took place at the Jorge Juan High School in San Fernando on May 15th with guitarist Daniel Bommatti and flamenco dancer Sara Sánchez. They shared their experience accompanying Alejandro Sanz during his performance at the 2023 Latin Grammy Awards held in Seville.
As a final point, the singer from Cádiz Esteban Guerrero Caracolillo de Cádiz – winner of the Antonio Mairena award in Mairena del Alcor – and the singer Susana Romero – winner of the Calitxo Sánchez award in Mairena del Alcor – were able to share with the teachers enrolled in the course a good dose of the cantes from Cadiz.
