The International Festival of Cante Flamenco Lo Ferro is a growing event, surrounded by a small but very efficient team that has been expanding its offering from another area, that of culture, increasing its number of conferences, book presentations, tributes and cycles.

El International Festival of Cante Flamenco from Lo Ferro It is a growing competition. It remains, despite  This, in a kind of 'Peter Pan' spirit, that is, is limited in its competition to cante, not including guitar or dance or other possible varieties of prizes. However, as we say, it is a growing festival, surrounded by a small But a very efficient team has been expanding its offerings from another area, that of culture, by increasing its number of conferences, book presentations, tributes, and series. A few years ago, they came up with the idea of guest artists, who, in addition to performing at their galas, would stay here for several days, offer a conference or meet-and-greet, and, above all, maintain open and committed exchanges with fans and the press.

This custom of promoting the presence of artists and journalists in Lo Ferro, which is maintained with increasing determination, was promoted from its beginning by some festival, and is the basis of its dazzling success. This is the case of Flamenco on Fire, from Pamplona, especially in his early years, when he was director Miguel Moran, who was also its founder.

«The final of the competition will be held on Saturday, July 26, and the highest award, the Golden Melon, will be given, in addition to other important prizes, such as the Ferreña, a cante, with a Malaga-style feel, created just over 25 years ago by the maestro Antonio Fernández Díaz, Fosforito»

In addition to this, there are other aspects that make this festival a particularly friendly, approachable, and attractive annual gathering. The Iron It is a neighborhood of Roldán, in turn a hamlet of pacheco tower, with just a few hundred inhabitants, where there is hardly anything for the rest of the year. Well, there is great agricultural wealth, as in the entire municipality and in almost the entire Cartagena field, which has attracted thousands of immigrants in recent decades, especially of Maghreb origin, a circumstance that has led to the sad events of recent weeks, driven by extremists from other parts of Spain. But Torre Pacheco is a land of peace and coexistence.

The festival is being held these days in July outdoors, under the stars, under the moon, in an open auditorium, with a large audience, including an increasing number of foreign visitors, from the rest of the Region of Murcia and other parts of Spain and abroad. And there's one thing that's decisive for me: more than the usual media figures, they hire excellent, quality artists. -in some cases half-forgotten – difficult to see in these parts. There are also occasional figures. This year, for example, a Israel Fernandez, el latest cry in flamenco fashion. But the interesting thing is being able to listen to other artists who are little known to the less familiar audiences of the flamenco, even among fans

La PThe Flamenco Festival Melón de Oro of Lo Ferro, which also promoted the festival, was created by a visionary, the late Sebastian Escudero, who, against all apparent logic, created the competition here forty-five years ago. Today it has become one of the most important of its kind in Spain. This Saturday, July 26, the competition final will be held and the highest award, the Golden Melon, in addition to other important awards, such as the Ferreña, a cante, with a Malaga-style feel, created just over 25 years ago by the maestro Antonio Fernandez Diaz, PhosphoriteAnd almost immediately, starting on the 31st of this month of July, the giant of contests starts, the International Festival of Cante from the Mines of La Union. It's no small feat.
