On March 4th, this great musician, who brought the spirituality of Andalusia to the keys of his piano like few others, said his final farewell at his residence in Marbella.

Felipe Campuzano was pure emotion, reflected in his light and creativity. He was born in Cádiz in 1945, a city that profoundly influenced him throughout his work and to which he dedicated the first volume of his series La Andalucía Espiritual.

In my selection, I begin with this album (Ámbar, 1977) where we find the rumba Inquietudes, a composition that became very popular at the time. I link it with Ojos Verdes, that couplet written by Rafael de León, Salvador Valverde, and Manuel Quiroga for Concha Piquer and which Felipe Campuzano performed on the piano in his album Melodías Inolvidables (Fonomusic, 1980). To conclude, an impressive soleá with his fellow countryman Beni de Cádiz, recorded on the album La nueva expresión del flamenco (Salinas Record, 1992).
