This first edition will celebrate the Day of Flamenco of Andalusia with several days of activities aimed at all audiences
The headquarters of the Andalusian Institute of Flamenco, an entity dependent on the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions of the Ministry of Culture and Sport, has hosted this Tuesday the presentation of the first edition of the festival 'Al Compás de Camas', which will celebrate the Day of the Flamenco in Andalusia in the town on November 15 and 16 with performances by Ezequiel Benitez, Maria Tavora, Jesus Mendez, Esperanza Rancapino and Marias Campos. In addition, the event has a series of educational activities to bring art closer jondo to the students of the municipality who begin this week.
The director of the Andalusian Institute of Flamenco, Cristóbal Ortega, has presented the program together with the mayor of Camas, Víctor Manuel Ávila, and the councilor for Cultural Promotion, Festivals and Events, Raúl Medina, as well as the deputy for Culture, Casimiro Fernández. At the event, the public officials have highlighted the educational part of the Festival, which has scheduled a series of workshops aimed at 3rd year ESO students to promote among the student community the knowledge, appreciation and development of flamenco.
Specifically, the educational centers IES Camas – Antonio Brisquet and IES Tartessos will participate in the different activities that begin next Friday, November 8, with a meeting in which the Ballet will participate. Flamenco Andalusia. It will be held in the Plenary Hall of Camas Town Hall and students will be able to see first-hand the work carried out by the dance corps of the Andalusian public company.
The 'Al Compás de Camas' competition seeks to propose different alternatives for the introduction, approach and teaching of the world of flamenco, with its cultural and educational values, to students. And for this reason, composition and percussion workshops have been designed that will bring young people closer to art. jondo. On the one hand, the composition work will be carried out by the project 'La Palabra Itinerante' and the writers and poets José María Gómez Valero and David Eloy Rodríguez, who will propose writing their own lyrics based on their personal experiences and through specific games and exercises. This work will help them to learn the metrics, themes and logic of some palos of the flamenco, such as soleás, bulerías or tangos. To close the workshop, contemporary artist Patricio Hidalgo will illustrate the result of the compositions live.
The flamenco box is another of the elements that will allow the students of Camas to approach the flamenco. Taught by 'Latidos Música y Danza', this workshop will teach the basic keys to learning to play the cajón flamenco and, in parallel, know the rhythms.
Recitals at Victoria Kent Park
In addition to the informative activity, there is a series of recitals by cante, touch and dance flamenco which will be held in the Victoria Kent park in the municipality of Cameroon. Specifically, they will be on November 15 and 16 and will celebrate the Day of the Flamenco in Andalusia. The program will begin on the 15th, at 19:00 p.m., with a recital in which you can enjoy the cante by Ezequiel Benítez, with the guitar of Paco León and the rhythm of Tate Núñez and Manuel Soler. They will be followed by María Távora, dancing, accompanied by cante by Manuel de Gines and Cristina de Tovar, with the guitar of Manuel Mejía “Carqui”.
The following day, the scheduled recitals will feature Jesús Méndez, accompanied by Pepe del Morao on guitar and the rhythm of Diego Montoya and Manuel Salado. Esperanza Rancapino will do the same with Paco León on guitar, Edu Gómez on rhythm and Ramón Torres on percussion, while the dance will be led by Matías Campos, who will be accompanied by Antonio Santiago “El Ñoño” on guitar and the cante by Miguel Lavi and Jesus Flores.
The programme is completed with the exhibition Flamenco Project, which can be visited at the Rafael Alberti Municipal Public Library from November 8, and the concert 'Tirititrán, flamenco for babies', which will take place in the same space on November 15 at 12:00 noon.
