XV NATIONAL COMPETITION OF CANTE FLAMENCO
"GOLDEN ASPARAGUS" VILLA DE HUÉTOR TÁJAR 2026
COMPETITION RULES:
I.- Singers, professional or amateur, without age limit, may enter the Competition and register under the conditions previously established herein.
The winner of the last edition of the contest will not be able to participate for the next three years.

III.- The Organizing Committee will appoint a Jury composed of people of recognized prestige and knowledge flamencoand its rulings will be final.
IV.-The Organization reserves the right not to admit to the Competition those applicants who, in its opinion, do not meet the requirements that the contest demands.
V.- The Competition will consist of two phases:
-Qualifying Phase: which will be held at the headquarters of the Peña Cultural Flamenca “Juan Pinilla” or at the House of Culture of Huétor-Tajar, before a jury and the public, during the months of February 21st to June 6th.
-Final Phase: It will be held, also before a jury and public, on Friday, June 19, 2026 at the House of Culture of Huétor Tajar.
VI.- The contestants will be notified by telephone with sufficient time, indicating the place, day and time of the performance.
VII. The Organization will provide contestants with a renowned official guitarist. However, they may, if they wish, be accompanied by their own guitarist, at their own expense.
VIII.- The contestants will be responsible for their own expenses related to meals and travel.
IX.- Failure to appear for the qualifying phases without prior notice will be considered grounds for disqualification and may result in exclusion from the competition for future years.
X.- CANTES: In each and every phase of the competition, contestants will be required to perform four consecutive songs. cantes, one from group A, one from group B, one from group C and one cante by Granaínas and half Granaínas. In the final phase, the same cannot be repeated. cantes of each group.
GROUPS OF CANTES:
Group A: Toná, Martinete, Debla, Cabales, Temporeras, Seguiriya, Soleá, Serrana, Caña, Polo and Romances
Group B: Tangos, Tientos, Marianas, Farrucas, Bulerías, Soleá por Bulerías, Alegrías, Cantiñas and Caracoles.
Group C: Malagueñas, Cantes of Levante, CanteRound trip songs, Fandangos de Huelva, Fandangos Naturales, Peteneras and others cantes that are not included in the previous groups.
PRIZES. – The following prizes are established:
First Prize: €1200 and the “Golden Asparagus” trophy
Second Prize: €500
Third Prize: €350
Fourth Prize: €300
Special Prize for Granaínas: €250
XI.- The judging panel may declare any of the prizes void, without prejudice to its power to, if it deems it appropriate, distribute the corresponding financial endowment into several runner-up prizes.
XII.- The Jury's decision will be final.
XIII.- The performances that, as a result of this competition, are carried out at the Festival, even if they are not awarded a prize, may be recorded, reproduced, distributed and publicly communicated, in whole or in part, for publication in the form of a compact disc, cassette or video-home, on any technical system or format, invented or to be invented, as well as for broadcast by radio and television through hertzian waves, cable, fiber optic or digital, or by the Internet, with universal scope and for the maximum time allowed by current legislation.
The provisions of this clause shall be without prejudice to the rights that third parties may hold in relation to the cantes interpreted, and of the authorizations that may be necessary to obtain in this regard.
XIV.- By participating in this Contest, contestants unconditionally accept these RULES, as well as any decision adopted by the Organization and the Contest Jury due to unforeseen incidents.
XV.- The Organization may make sound and/or visual recordings during the performances of the Contestants, whether they win prizes or not, and reserves the right to use them in any format for the dissemination of the Flamenco.
XVI.- The winner of the “Golden Asparagus” award in the town of Huétor Tajar will have €400 withheld from the first prize, which will be paid out upon performance in the peña flamenco cultural center “Juan Pinilla” when the organization deems it appropriate.
