The trovo has been and is an expression where words are intertwined in a dance of thoughts and emotions. It is the voice of popular culture, where rhymes and creativity tell the story of the lives, struggles and dreams of those who, with only their words, can change the mood of their people. Each improvisation must be unique and unrepeatable and carries with it, from its beginnings, the essence of the land and of daily struggles.
Pablo Díaz Moreno learned the art of improvisation when he was young and today he continues to keep this tradition very much alive by “training” the young people who come to him to learn from “one of the great masters of trovo that we have left in the Region of Murcia”, as defined by Joaquín Zapata, mayor of La Unión and president of the Foundation Cante of the Mines. Thus, the International Festival of Cante de las Minas wanted to pay tribute to him with the 'Trovero Marín' award on the last day of the Cultural Agenda of the 63rd edition of the event flamenco
Excited, he wanted to dedicate the award to his grandchildren and thank them in verse for giving him this prize: “It is the greatest illusion / that a troubadour has ever dreamed of / to come here to La Unión / to sing in the Market / and in the Casa del Piñón”.
Despite being retired from the stage, Díaz Moreno is still active in the training of new talents. One of his students is Iván 'El de la Escucha', winner of this VI edition of the 'Pascual García Mateos' Trovos Competition and with whom he co-wrote 'El Manual del Trovero' in 2010, a work that seeks to transmit in a simple way the fundamentals of the trovo.
"We are busy ensuring that the trovo has the place it deserves, because it is part of the cultural heritage of La Unión and the origin of the people themselves. cantes miners”, Zapata showed his support for this art and its continuity in the Festival.
