Buleria Festival 2025

“The Bulería Festival and Fridays Flamenco come back to to magnify the flamenco from Jerez"," said the municipal leader. In his opinion, these are "two major city festivals" that not only contribute to its positive image as an urban space, but also help spread "the art we champion around the world." After thanking the artists for their involvement and the collaboration of the peñaflamenco shows -specifically, in the Friday series Flamenco- has highlighted the success of moving some of the events of the Bulería Festival to the Plaza Belén, something that will allow this space in the historic center to become "a meeting point" to connect with the flamenco in a “playful, popular and participatory” way in an environment that the City Council has restored and that comes to life through cultural events of this type.

García-Pelayo has highlighted that “we have to continue working so that Jerez is not a fad"We must work to consolidate what we have and ensure that Jerez continues to enchant those who visit us. We must provide reasons and motives for people to continue wanting to come to Jerez." And in his opinion, this effort is justified by the fact that the city offers many unique attractions in terms of heritage, flamenco, Christmas zambombas, and gastronomy. “We're unique. Only we have that,” he noted.

For the mayor, all this places the city in an unbeatable position to be European Capital of Culture in 2031, since “Jerez can offer the best to the world, the best that Andalusia has to offer.” In his opinion, projects such as the Bulería Festival, the Fridays Flamenco and others "will make it possible for us to become the European Capital of Culture, a shared challenge. We have to defend what's ours. What's authentic is in Jerez."

Everything enters through bulerías

“I have sought a balance between nostalgia and modernity,” said Carlos Granados, director of Fundarte, when explaining the programming of the 58th Bulería FestivalA cultural event conceived as “the great summer festival of Jerez,” understood as an element that “dignifies people and brings them together around their culture, their way of understanding life and relating; a culture that is lived and made rather than watched from a seat.” And in all of this, both in the bulería in particular and the flamenco In general, the great contribution of the Roma people was highlighted, to whom this edition is dedicated on the 600th anniversary of their arrival on the peninsula.

That “playful, popular and participatory” character This will be highlighted at the opening of the Bulería Festival on August 19th in Plaza Belén, as explained by Carlos Granados. Under the title Everything comes in through bulería A day of coexistence will take place with bulería classes and games flamencochildren's events and food trucks, among other activities, in addition to the artistic participation of Eva del Cristo cante, Santiago Moreno on guitar and José Peña at palmas.

On successive days, three free performances will take place in the same location in the historic center under the generic title Bulería under the starsThe first of them will be on August 20th with the cante from Agujetas Chico, Melchora Ortega and David Lagos, accompanied by the guitars of Alfredo Lagos and Domingo Rubichi and the percussion of Perico Navarro. A day later, the voices of Fernando Soto, Mara Rey and Coral de los Reyes will be heard, under the musical direction of Raúl Bernal. The last date in Plaza Belén will take place on August 21 with the cante Manuel Moneo "Barullo" by Manuel de la Fragua and Elu de Jerez, with guitarists Domingo Rubichi and José Gálvez and artistic direction by David Lagos, a responsibility he also assumes on the day of their performance.
