The 23rd Al Gurugú Festival in Arahal presents a committed lineup flamenco

One more year, Arahal returns to be the epicenter of the flamenco, paying tribute to their history, leading artists in the universe flamenco and the future of this art. From June 5 to 14, Aurora Vargas will perform, Pastora Galván, Manuel de la Tomasa, Dani de Morón, La Tremendita and Reyes Carrasco, among others.

The Sevillian town of Arahal is preparing once again to host a new edition of the Memorial to the Girl of the Combs – Al Gurugú, which will reach its twenty-third edition in 2025. The festival, established as a must-attend event on the Andalusian cultural calendar, will once again be held over two consecutive weekends: June 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, and 14.

The event was presented on Tuesday, May 20 at the Seville headquarters of the Andalusian Institute of Flamenco by the first deputy mayor and delegate for Culture, Alberto SanromanHe was accompanied there by the director of the institution, Christopher Ortega, and the artists Aurora Vargas, Manuel de la Tomasa, Dani de Morón and La Tremendita, who are part of the festival's cast.
At the local level, that same day the presentation of the program and the poster took place in the Auditorium of the Casa del Aire (Arahal), a work in homage to the centenary of the birth of Francisco Moreno GalvanThe event included a lecture and recital by Raul Montesinos, accompanied on guitar by Antonio CarrionThe mayor of La Puebla de Cazalla attended as a guest, Antonio Martín, a municipality closely linked to Moreno Galván.

The Al Gurugú Festival kicks off on Thursday, June 5th with a day dedicated to local artists, with performances by Rosario Muñoz, Antonio López and Jesús Carrillo, accompanied on guitar by Manuel Jesus Carrillo y Eduardo Rebollar.

On Friday, June 6, the singer Manuel de la Tomasa and the guitarist David of Arahal present their show CircumnavigationBoth performances will be held at the Municipal Theatre at 21,30:10 p.m., with admission for XNUMX euros.

On Saturday, June 7th, it will be the turn of Life Sketching, a show by Dani de Morón, Rosario La Tremendita and Sergio FargasIt will be held at the Municipal Theater at 21:30 p.m., with admission for 12 euros.

The festival continues on Wednesday, June 11 with the installation The non-native, the foreigner and the gypsy, with Alexander Villaescusa (cante), Tino Van der Sman (guitar) and Jose Oruco (dance). Municipal Theatre, 21:30 p.m., admission 5 euros.

On Thursday, June 12, the young promise Kings Carrasco brings Pastora in my memory, accompanied by The Pearl to the guitar and Pedro Jesús Martínez y Edward Gomez at palmas. Municipal Theatre, 21:30 p.m., entry 10 euros.

On Saturday, June 14th, the grand closing of the festival arrives with the show Jet and Coral, Starring Aurora Vargas (cante) and Pastora Galvan (dance), with the guitarist Miguel SaladoThe award will be presented at this evening.   • Book presentations of flamenco lyrics: “Reflejos” by Francisco Auxilia – May 22. “Ecos del pueblo” by José Francisco López – May 29. Both at the Casa del Aire at 20:30 p.m.
  • Guided tours of CIMFLA, the Women's Interpretation Center in the Flamenco
