The half-century flamenco by Caballero Bonald (I)

This newly begun year of 2026 brings us the centenary of the birth of the illustrious writer José Manuel Caballero Bonald. Alongside his extensive career as a poet, essayist, and novelist, his work in the flamenco With a good number of published books, as well as being a lyricist and producer of some undeniably valuable flamenco recordings. I'll focus on one of them, which was titled as Half a Century of Cante Flamenco (Ariola, 1987). An extensive anthology, largely inherited from his Archive of the Cante Flamenco (Vergara, 1968), which contemplated 71 canteIt features 25 artists. It received the National Prize from the Ministry of Culture in the year of its publication.

Some records that They were remastered onto 4 compact discs when the digital age arrived. From Volume I I focus on the voices of Aunt Anica la Piriñaca, Antonio Mairena, Juan Talega, Fernando Terremoto and Bernarda de Utrera as well as guitarists of the stature of Melchor de Marchena, Eduardo de la Malena or Manuel Morao.
