The IX Festival Flamenco Mediterranean unites poetry, memory and contemporary creation in Alicante and Murcia

From October 24 to November 28, 2025, Carmen Linares, Mercedes de Córdoba, Jesús Carmona and Arcángel star in an edition that explores the history and present of flamenco.

La Mediterranean Foundation celebrates the ninth edition of its Festival Flamenco Mediterranean coast, a date that between October 24 and November 28, 2025 will take Alicante and Murcia a program that combines cante, dance, poetry, and reflection. Since 2017 in Alicante and 2021 in Murcia, this meeting has opted to bring the flamenco –Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity– to new audiences, offering performances, workshops, exhibitions, conferences, and screenings.

The opening will bring together the poet Luis Garcia Montero the singer already Carmen Linares in a dialogue between the word and the canteLinares, an undisputed reference in art jondo, has claimed the voice of historical figures such as The Girl with the Combs o Fernanda from Utrera, and will demonstrate how the flamenco It is also oral literature and living memory.

The festival will continue with Forgotten (To the Sinsombrero), Mercedes of Cordoba, a production that combines dance and social commitment. Inspired by the silenced creators of the 20th century, the dancer draws a parallel with the invisible women in the flamenco, transforming the stage into a space of poetic justice.

Jesus Carmona will present States, a journey through the palos of the flamenco —soleá, alegrías, tarantos…— from a free and contemporary perspective. Her unscripted approach reclaims dance as a living language that reinvents itself with each generation.

As closure, Archangel Will offer Alphabet Flamenco, a personal journey through the artists and styles that have shaped his career, from oral tradition to the most current sound explorations.
