El flamenco sneaks into the Fez Festival

Miguel Poveda, Florencia Oz, and Isidora Oz will add a flamenco touch to the 28th edition of the World Sacred Music Festival and Fez Forum, from May 16 to 24, 2025.

That the flamenco It is one of the most renowned music genres on the planet, which is non-negotiable and unquestionable. That is why it also has a place in the program of the 28th Edition of the Festival of Sacred Music of the World and Fez Forum, in Morocco, with the presence of Miguel Poveda and the sisters Florence Oz e Isidora Oz.

This event is a space where different cultures intermingle. It will be held from May 16 to 24, 2025, in the Moroccan town of Fez under the motto Renaissances, which means "Renaissances." A journey through the roots that connect Africa with the Renaissance era that emerged in Europe.

La Bab Al Makina Square or extraordinary gardens or palaces will be the venues for this festival, which has the collaboration of the Andalusian Institute of Flamenco. Flamenco proposals claim the power of an art jondo which is a link between cultures from all over the world.

Sisters Florencia Oz and Isidora Oz present in Fez their proposal entitled AntipodesThey will do it on Monday, May 19 at the Jnan Sbil Garden"This visual and sensorial proposal of rare intelligence, both profound and ethereal, expresses the coexistence of two women who interact on stage, inspired by the myth of the double," according to the festival's official website.

Under a minimalist aesthetic, the Oz twins tell the journey "from the moment they were one to the turning point where one stopped being the other and became herself." And all through dance, flamenco, percussion and visual poetry.

On Friday, May 23, the performance of Miguel Poveda will be one of the highlights of the festival. In the impressive setting of Bab Al Makina Square, the singer will perform pieces inspired by the Poem of the Cante Jondo de Federico Garcia Lorca.

He is accompanied by the exceptional guitar of JJesus GuerreroThe original guitarist from San Fernando joins the voice of Poveda for that profound interpretation of Lorca's texts, which gave poetry countless times to the mystery of the duende and of the jondoMiguel Poveda, the percussionist, will also be accompanied paquito gonzalez, as well as the choirs and palmas de Londro y The Makarines, and Catalan Carlos Grilo.
