This 2025 marks a key date for the Festival Flamenco 'City of Huelva' celebrates 10 years of hard work to ensure that Huelva occupies its rightful place in this cultural and artistic expression, a symbol of Andalusia's identity and declared Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO.
A commitment by Huelva City Council that also serves to strengthen the talent that is or lives in our city, as Regina has demonstrated again today, accompanied on guitar by María José Mato, with a masterful performance to present the tenth anniversary that will be celebrated of the 16 al 22 de junio with a very high level programming, where the guitar, as the sound soul of the flamenco, will have a special role.
The mayor of Huelva, Pilar Miranda, together with Antonio Pulido, president of the Cajasol Foundation, have been responsible for presenting a varied, quality, affordable program that "pays tribute to the Flamenco, promoting knowledge of it among adults and children alike." Along with the Councilors for Culture and Archaeological Heritage, Nacho Molina; and for Commerce, Tourism, and Youth, Pastora Giménez; the Chimeneas Hall of the Casa Colón was dressed up for an event attended by representatives of the municipal political groups, the rest of the sponsors, including the Provincial Council and the University of Huelva, as well as the peñaHuelva residents, residents' federation, Amparo Correa Foundation, media outlets and numerous artists from Huelva.

A “very ambitious” tenth edition, said Pilar Miranda, presenting “seven days, most of the days with several very varied proposals, always with the flamenco by flag, which includes all kinds of high-level activities and shows, many of them with free entry in the Barrio Obrero, the Santa Fe Barracks and the Casa Colón, except for those taking place at the Gran Teatro, with tickets already on sale at the box office and on the ticket sales website huelva.es.”
A festival, the mayor has assured, "to satisfy the most demanding fans" flamencos, but also to highlight a musical genre – or rather, a Cultural Heritage of Humanity – that has wide recognition and worldwide fandom and to do so from Huelva, because we have the tradition, the roots of the purest and most original forms, such as our fandango and the evolution and dynamism of the talent of our young people to convince the most purists and the most tolerant fans and defend the Festival. Flamenco "Ciudad de Huelva" has become one of the most important events nationwide thanks to the roster of guests who share their art in iconic spaces throughout the city each year.
For his part, Antonio Pulido took the opportunity to confirm the commitment of the Cajasol Foundation to Huelva, "with the territory, with social action, with entrepreneurship, sport and of course with culture and especially with the flamenco as our own and indigenous language that must be promoted within and outside our borders." The president of the Cajasol Foundation has stated that "the 'Ciudad de Huelva' Festival is part of our DNA, being a cultural and musical event that must serve as a mirror and stimulant to export the flamenco to the whole world.”
Among the shows, names such as I stand outSrael Fernández, which, together with Francis Gomez, will be in charge of inaugurating the stage of the Grand Theatre on June 18 and Antonio Rey with Jesús Méndez which will put the finishing touch on June 22; in addition to Eva la Yerbabuena and Francisco Roca which complete the offering at the Grand Theatre on June 19.
Next to them in the incomparable setting of Workers' Quarter, within the traditional section of the QuitaSueños Festival that this year pays tribute to the official sponsor with the Cajasol stage to offer two shows, on Friday and Saturday, June 20 and 21, starring great figures of the flamenco current as Edge of the Patios; Aurora Vargas and La Tremendita and Paco Cepero, Rancapino Chico and El Pecas.
Also among the new features is the opening of the renovated Santa Fe Barracks on June 17, with a show by Juan Rafael, María Canea and Jesús Corbacho.
A first-class offering, to shine in the birthplace of fandango, alongside Huelva talent, with the best artists as protagonists, who will act as hosts. With them, one of the main protagonists of this edition will be the guitarist Paco Cepero, winner of the Paco Toronjo 'Legends of the Flamenco'.
And the guitar, as the sound soul of the flamenco, stars in the image of this tenth edition, with a poster by Anna Palma, renowned photographer with all kinds of awards such as the First Prize at the International Flamenco Photography Salon of the Chair of FlamencoJerez logy in 2009 and 2010 and a regular festival collaborator flamencosuch as the one in Jerez, the one in New York, which in its tenth edition had her as official photographer, the Nimes Festival or the Netherlands Biennial.
However, the poster won't be the only work from this renowned artist to be enjoyed in Huelva. It also includes the exhibition "Blessed Glory," which will be open to the public from June 16 to 21 in the Sala de Brazos at the Casa Colón.
In this way, the festival comes loaded with proposals to enjoy the flamenco in many ways, as a good artistic genre that it is, because in addition to the photographic exhibition by Ana Palma, there is a pictorial exhibition by Miguel Verdejo in the hall of the Gran Teatro, from June 18 to 22. In addition, the didactic workshops, mainly aimed at schoolchildren, to sow the seed of flamenco among the little ones, who come once again from the hand of La Cavaera and Antonio Dovao; including, for all audiences, an illustrated lecture by Regina on the Fandango de Huelva.
And among the new features, the Ibero-American Film Festival is at the service of Flamenco and Huelva inaugurating the tenth edition, on June 16, with the premiere of a Film Club that will be held at the Santa Fe Barracks with a double session of documentaries that includes the short film 'Silence' and the award-winning 'Fandango', both directed by the Huelva native Remedios Malvarez, who will be accompanied by co-director Arturo Andújar at the discussion that will take place after the screening.
Finally, the festival includes the National Children's Fandango Competition of the Peña Flamenca of The Order which celebrates its 46th edition, discovering young talent to continue making cantera. It will be held on June 21 at the Gran Teatro, with Ezequiel Benítez as guest artist, demonstrating the commitment of this city to the fandango, as the hallmark of Huelva, to protect and defend a flag "of which we feel deeply proud because of the great artists from Huelva who raise this palo, thanks, without a doubt, to the commendable work carried out by the Peñas Flamencas, for the defense and promotion of the fandango in particular and the flamenco “in general,” the mayor said.
Today, with its presentation, the tenth edition of the Festival takes off.
