On Saturday, July 26th at 10 p.m. in the Antonio Sánchez municipal sports center in Casabermeja, the 54th edition of the festival of Cante Grande, which on this occasion will pay tribute to the talent of the women who forged the flamenco tradition. With the title of The Woman in the flamenco, this festival will give them prominence in the three dimensions of this art: the cante, dancing, and playing the guitar. The festival has been declared a Provincial Tourist Attraction by the Provincial Council and of National Tourist Interest by Andalusia. Tickets are available at whileentrance.net.
This was announced by the Vice President of Culture, Manuel López, together with the mayor of Casabermeja, Pedro hernández, who recalled that since its inception, artists such as Camarón de la Isla, Fernanda de Utrera, José Menese or Farruquito have stepped onto the stage of this festival, whose format is one of its distinctive features, as it emulates that of the old cafés cantantes where artists would take to the stage spontaneously, without a predetermined order. Just like in these cafés, the audience at the Casabermeja festival can enjoy good cante while gathering with friends and family around a table to enjoy a glass of local wine, which is sprinkled with rosemary and mastranto to give the evening a special aroma.
A plastic performance between the Sevillian painter Gonzalo Conradi and the guitarist from El Puerto Antonia Gimenez will illustrate, to begin with, a set that will be a blank canvas and the start of this festival.
"The evening will be dedicated to Sandra García, a woman from Casabermeja who was a victim of gender violence. With this, the Casabermeja City Council and the Peña Flamenca Torre Zambra wants to show its solidarity with all those who have suffered and its condemnation of this scourge.
The cast of artists on July 26 will be made up of a representation of the flamenco most current and representative of the different flamenco singing areas. In this way, the local singer will be able to participate in the Malaga Virginia Gamez y Andrés CansinFrom Extremadura, the cante of race of the Kaita to Miguel Vargas and son Juan Vargas. And from Córdoba, Dew Moon (Mining Lamp 2023) with the guitarist from Moguer Francis Gomez.

On this occasion, the dance will be performed by two flamenco artists. The Nerja native's exuberant dance Agueda Saavedra, and from Trebujena, the dance of pellizco de Juan Thomas de la Molia.

Since 1987, the Festival of Cante Grande is accompanied by another small-format festival, the Flamenco Pot, closely linked to local gastronomy, and which celebrated its 37th edition on July 5. Both festivals are part of the Julio Flamenco of the municipality, with activities such as talks, conferences, exhibitions and shows.
