The cycle Flamenco you will be it, along with the concerts at the Teatro Cervantes, has also opted for small-format recitals in the delightful space of the Interactive Museum of Music of Malaga (MIMMA). One of them was offered to us by the singer from Extremadura Juanfran Carrasco along with the Chiclanero's guitar Nono Reyes, filling the room with their powerful voice, which is so intimate and intimate that, truly, microphones were unnecessary. In fact, on more than one occasion, the artists dispensed with them, revealing that the venue's acoustics were in their favor.
He began with tarantos, somewhat cold and lifeless, as he did not even try to temper himself in the went out, directly making the cante, remembering García Lorca, Camarón and Manuel TorresJuanfran Carrasco has a deep, deep and tuned voice, without much tonal range, but with a beautiful and curly complain which at the same time is cut out, without stopping at the decoration, so much so that it can sometimes be flat, as occurred in these first ones cantes.
He continued with bulerías to listen to or bulerías por soleá, magnificently led by the guitar of Nono Reyes, where his snail-like affection began to emerge, using a semi-falsetto to give speed by cutting out the turns and melismas which, at times, managed to point out the pellizco.
His voice was warming up and he was liking it. This was noticeable in the Malagan women of Mellizo, trying to find his personality, but always with the ayeo caracolero as a reference.
"With the audience still reeling from the siguiriya, he performed some bulerías with lyrics alluding to Málaga: Málaga de la Cañeta, fountain from which one must drink, and my Cancanilla, bless me, Undibé." The rhythm was excellent, and the rapport between guitarist and singer was brilliant."
At this point in the recital the artist opted for tangos, showing determination, enjoying himself, but he abused the stops, since he likes to stop the cante and leave it in suspense for a few seconds, an effect that sometimes turns against it because it cuts off its air paloNono Reyes, meanwhile, accompanied him wonderfully, being his perfect accomplice in these very personal liberties of the singer.
With the guitar in the air, he faced the seguiriya and happily we found a Juanfran Carrasco who, with his natural voice and the inspiring falsetas of Reyes, He managed to pinch us and demonstrate knowledge and enthusiasm. We must appreciate the commitment to the flamenco that these artists have, especially in these times, where the culture of flamenco songs as a promise of immediate success is the daily temptation. He remembered Tomás Pavón and Manuel Torres, but always through the filter of his admired Manolo Caracol. The special days of Santiago and Santa Ana, off the mic, put the finishing touch to the cante.
With the audience still reeling from the siguiriya, he performed some bulerías with lyrics alluding to Málaga: Málaga de la Cañeta, a fountain from which one must drink, and my Cancanilla, bless me Undibé'. Good timing, brilliant rapport between guitarist and singer.
To finish, a couple of fandangos, from Caracol and the great Porrina from Badajoz, without a microphone, and very dedicated, getting the audience out of their seats.
