Andalusia is a blessed community, protected by divine grace; hence the spiritual happiness of those of us who enjoy well-being in a territory filled with mystical words such as... Blessed land, those used by the Ballet Flamenco Andalusia (BAF) for its presentation in Seville, as a preview of the imminent fifteenth anniversary – which will be on November 16 – of when the flamenco It was included in the representative list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Blessed land It is the setup that led to Patricia guerrero to assume the direction of the BAF in 2023. It premiered on January 14, 2025 in Santiago de Chile, specifically at the Nescafé de las Artes Theater, and has already been staged in Marbella –April 26– as well as in Almería –July 12– or Morocco –October 30–, so in Seville it is received as a divine offering, both because its direct object is the flamenco Without artifice, as it is the third production by those involved since Patricia Guerrero took over as director of BAF in October 2023, given that she had already programmed Pineda. Popular romance in three pictures (2024) and Origin. The seed of time (2025)

This third proposal is a very flamenco 'suite' that is structured around twelve movements, with clear references to great masters such as Mario Maya o Cristina Hoyos placeholder imageFrom the bulería, the company immerses itself in Territories as an introduction, to lead into the Child's Taranta, from the Child of Marchenawhich fully complies with the records Manuel de Gines as a prelude to the atmosphere of the The Poor Man's Sale, where the tangos of Triana flow thanks to Sofia Suarez and the extraordinary attempts of Edward LoyalThus, a language is forged that, as it progresses, weaves a relationship increasingly marked by the diversity of the very flamenco.

There is a castanet solo by David Chupete which exalts the performance, virtuously exploiting all the resources and techniques of the instrument, as a preliminary to Blessed land, fandangos that are trapped in the timbral and interpretative richness of Amparo Lagares and Manuel de Gines, a block that leads to the Madrugá, trapped in the voice of Amparo Lagares and escorted by Jose Luis MedinaThus, the combinations of timbres and harmonies give variety to the show, which gains in intensity and passion with the appearance of the dance.

"Blessed land is not newly plowed land, but terrain that admirably serves the imagination of dance." flamencoIts lyricism and unique theatricality are what make it a production that expresses with infinite clarity the naked soul of dance. flamenco in Andalusia without additives»

This is how a fertile field is woven in which each member fully expresses the role entrusted to them, as when Angel Fariña y Lucia the Bronze They invite us to travel through the Walk of the Sad But from a spectacular Granada-style dance, very well directed by José Luis Medina, while the male cast, dressed in short jackets and hats, wander From Cape to the Alcazaba with a foot-stomping that contrasts with the dazzling intensity of the cantiñas of the female cast, which transport us to the Plaza de las Flores, one of the enclaves in Cadiz where even the air is capable of capturing its essence in verses.

Enough energy to generate art and dazzling virtuosity is what emanates from the choral group, and even refined effects that fill the canteYes, spectacularly, but also Elegance and musical refinement always at the service of dance, of discursive expressionFor example, like the poem Feast in Glory intertwined by the fandango and the bulería, and danced by Patricia Guerrero, which reaches its deepest density through soleá in the Mall, combining every movement of the Sevillian environment with its own personality.

And to crown such a successful proposal, the compliment to the AndalusianIn this piece, Patricia Guerrero and Eduardo Leal offer a single glimpse into the universe of the seguiriya. Not because they engage in a kind of duel, but because they artfully exploit the techniques of dance interpretation, culminating with the entire company in a rhythmic fashion, transporting us back to a soundscape of rarefied and delicate textures, and an extremely restrained energy, interpreted with delicacy by the musicians and contributing a reservoir of colors of purely Flemish richness and density.

Blessed land It is not, therefore, newly plowed land, but a terrain that admirably serves the imagination of dance flamencoto its lyricism and its unique theatricality. Consequently, it is a production that knows how to express with infinite clarity the nakedness of the soul of dance. flamenco in Andalusia without additives.
