We are very pleased with the reception of a new cultural resource launched from Espacio ExpoflamencoAn interactive Christmas route through Jerez, where ballads and carols accompanied the journey. To create this experience, selected locations were chosen that have some connection to the Nativity of the Christ Child, and selected musical excerpts were added. (Photos: Lucía Valle)

Would be Rafael Ramos Antúnez, Niño Gloriawho, since ancient times, welcomed the group. Some 20 participants, along with the Municipal Nativity Scene of Santo Domingo, listened to the original version of 'The Roads Were Made' recorded in 1929 by the singer from Santiago.

Once inside the historic center of Jerez, we discussed the amalgamation of popular songs that make up the zambomba. Some are directly related to religious events, while others come from very different origins. The people would remember them all together as the long nights of Advent arrived. We then listened to some examples such as 'If the river of Cartuja'or'The Nun and the Bloodletter'', the latter as an example of the burlesque erotic field so present in the Christmas Eve repertoire of Jerez.

The Christmas Eve carols served as our musical guide along our route, starting at the Municipal Nativity Scene

La Bethlehem Square It would offer us its beautiful panoramic view. There, some neighbors spontaneously joined in upon hearing 'There was Saint Mary', quite an anecdote. From there, to the portal installed in the Bertemati Palace, seat of the bishopric, to face the cluster of streets made up of Santa Isabel, Visitación and the portal of the Annunciation of the Cathedral. Each of them with its allusive Christmas carol.

In the final stretch of the route, already through the San Miguel neighborhood, we pay homage to the Christmas of the flamenco to Lola Flores, La Paquera with Antonio Gallardo and Manuel TorreTheir voices sounded like an anthem of our most cherished holiday as we explained the origin and nature of each composition.

Already at our Espacio headquarters Expoflamenco, on Diego Fernández Herrera street, The group toasted with glasses of sherry. to wish us a Merry Christmas. They even sang a popular Christmas carol to certify the success of this new immersive route, which was created with water, wind, and cold, and would sing the Gloria.

Thank you all for participating, a big round of applause and thank you for coming!
