"Created in 1972, this competition has established itself as one of the longest-running flamenco events in the province of Cádiz, attracting artists and fans from all over Spain every autumn."
The contest maintains a prize table headed by the award José María Sarlio Chiclanita, with a prize of 1.500 euros and a trophy. As for the dynamics, each participant must interpret three cantes chosen from the four established blocks, which range from siguiriyas, tonás and martinetes to soleás, alegrías, tientos, bulerías, farrucas, peteneras or tarantas, among many others.
Created in 1972, this competition has established itself as one of the longest-running flamenco events in the province of Cádiz, attracting artists and fans from all over Spain every autumn. "It's a source of pride to keep alive a competition that honors the cante and those who make it great," said the president of the peña, José Manuel González Mané, during the presentation with the municipal delegate for Citizen Participation, Mª Ángeles Martínez Rico.
With this new edition, Chiclana is once again on the map of flamenco as a space for meeting, competition and celebration of an art that continues to evolve without losing its roots.
