Badajoz recovers its magic with Badasom, Festival of Flamenco and Fado

One more season, the flamenco and fado go hand in hand at Badasom, the festival that unites both musical genres in Badajoz from July 1 to 5, 2025.

Badajoz is preparing to host the sixteenth edition of a series that unites two musical passions from July 1 to 5, 2025: flamenco and fado. This year, the competition returns to its origins by recovering its original name, Badasom, a decision that reaffirms its roots and strengthens its status as a cross-border meeting point between Spain and Portugal.

Every July, Badajoz becomes the scene of cultural brotherhood, where the cante jondo It dialogues with the melancholy of Portuguese fado. "There is no city in the world capable of hosting a festival of this nature," he emphasized during the presentation. Francisco Palomino, Secretary General of Culture, highlighting the uniqueness of this project. For the mayor, Ignacio Gragera, the simple fact of rescuing the name Badasom symbolizes that collective memory that forged the identity of the city as the cradle of flamenco and heart of the Raya.

 

«On July 3, David Peña Dorantes will join singer Marina Heredia and dancer Farruquito to present "Esencias." A journey without borders: alegrías, fandangos, and seguiriyas from Baja Andalucía will be intertwined with rhythms from Morocco, Argentina, Cuba, and New Orleans.

 

Five nights of art and emotion

The Badasom 2025 shows will be divided between the Lopez de Ayala Theater and the Ricardo Carapeto Auditorium, paving the way for five proposals that will range from the purest tradition to the most innovative proposals.

July 1th

On the Summer Terrace of the López de Ayala, the cycle will be inaugurated with Matancera, a meeting between two voices with a marked local and Sevillian character. kaita, a leading singer from Badajoz flamenco traditional, and Rosario La Tremendita, interpreter of the cante Triana's avant-garde, will fuse roots and electronics, Badajoz and Triana, in a profound tribute to the heart of the flamenco.

July 2th

Fado invades the Summer Terrace with Sara Correia, an emerging voice who has conquered Portugal with his new album, FreedomAt just twenty years old, her timbre evokes the classic elegance of Portuguese music, while modernizing the genre with unexpected nuances. Her performance promises to draw the audience into that world of longing and emotional power.

July 3th

The audience will experience an intimate journey through verses and melodies that have defined her career, paying homage to the composers and poets who shaped her artistic universe.

July 5th

To close Badasom 2025, the singer from Huelva Argentina will present for the first time Cante & Saudade. Flamenco and FadoThis last montage is an emotional dialogue between two languages ​​of the soul: the ardent passion of the cante jondo and the profound melancholy of Portuguese saudade. In her voice, the audience will discover the unbreakable complicity that unites both musical worlds, uniting hearts beyond words.
