Artists from Jerez take the zambomba to Jordan for the first time

The Jerez Chamber of Commerce recently hosted the official presentation of the first Jerez flamenco zambomba to travel to Jordan, an unprecedented cultural event, entitled 'Coral Christmas – IFI Jerez: the authentic Jerez Flamenco Zambomba in Jordan'.

La Jerez Chamber of Commerce The Chamber of Commerce's Coworking Culture and Business space recently hosted the official presentation of the first Jerez-style zambomba (traditional Christmas carol) to travel to Jordan, an unprecedented cultural event entitled 'Coral Christmas – IFI Jerez: the authentic Jerez Flamenco Zambomba in Jordan', which strengthens the international projection of the heritage flamenco de la ciudad.

The event was attended by the delegate for Culture, Major Events, Historical Heritage and European Capital of Culture, Francisco zurita; the first vice-president of the Jerez Chamber of Commerce, Gemma García Bermúdez; the artistic director, Choir of the Kings; the CEO and producer of IFI Jerez, Juan Alfonso Romeroand the artist Ali of the Tota.

During the presentation, it was announced that this cultural event will be held on Friday, November 21st in Amman, specifically in The National Center of Culture and ArtsThis event has the institutional support of the Spanish Embassy in the Jordanian capital. The delegate emphasized “the importance of a project that will open new doors to Jerez's international profile,” and stated that “initiatives like this strengthen the candidacy of Jerez 2031, European Capital of Culturefocused on artistic exchange and building bridges between territories.” The cast of artists includes Ali de la Tota (zambomba), Curro Malena (guitar), Ana de los Reyes, Abraham del Zambo, Merci del Chícharo and Juan Juanelo (vocals, cante and dance).

The delegate also noted that the Jerez City Council highly values ​​this cultural initiative, the result of a commitment between institutions, artists, and the business sector, and expressed gratitude for the support of the Spanish Embassy, ​​whose collaboration has been essential in making the project possible.

The delegate recalled that the flamenco, and with it The Jerez zambomba constitutes “a universal language"capable of uniting sensibilities and building bridges between very distant cultures." In this sense, he highlighted "the importance of strengthening international artistic exchanges, projecting Jerez as a cultural city in constant dialogue with the world."
