La Meeting of Cante Jondo from La Puebla de Cazalla, one of the longest-running and most prestigious events on the calendar flamenco, welcomes the Saturday 12 of July its 56th edition at the Hacienda La Fuenlonguilla in this Sevillian municipality with great figures of the cante, the touch and dance like Carmen Linares, Rafael Riqueni or Eva Yerbabuena and first-class artists like Pedro El Granaíno, Encarna Anillo, Ana Ramírez 'La Yiya', Edu Espín, Salvador Gutiérrez, Patrocinio Hijo, Antonio Carrión and Pituquete.
In addition, it has a program of parallel activities from Friday, July 4, which includes exhibitions, tourist routes, workshops flamenco children's activities, book presentations, documentary screenings, round tables and recitals cante, free dancing and playing for all audiences, such as those of Rocío Márquez and Bronquio, Perrate with the playing of Paco de Amparo or Marco Flores.
In this sense, the mayor of the municipality, Antonio Martín, has emphasized "the Meeting's ability to attract diverse spectators from different backgrounds and interests who come to this event every year because here they find a space to share the flamenco experience in an open, free and community way”. An example of this is the XXI International Course on Flamenco which takes place over a week at the Hacienda itself and attracts people from many different countries.
Thus, without leaving aside the initial idea of its founders, the Moorish painter and poet Francisco Moreno Galván and the singer José Menese, the Meeting of Cante Jondo It has been growing and diversifying, accommodating the different aesthetics that the universe encompasses. jondo current and becoming an example of “how the flamenco is capable of articulating and serving as a tool for social and educational transformation." Through, in this case, specific activities aimed at inmates of the Penitentiary Center, workshops flamenco for the little ones or the VIII edition of the Youth Meeting of Cante Jondo.
Specifically, the traditional meeting will celebrate a very special anniversary this year: the centenary of the birth of Francisco Moreno Galván (1925-1999), one of the great innovators of flamenco lyrics and a key figure for the Moorish fans, who keep his mark alive both in the defense of his concept of cante as in his aesthetics, maintaining even after his death his works that illustrate the posters of each edition.

To pay tribute to him, the event features one of the leading voices of the flamenco, how is Carmen Linares, living legend of cante and teacher of all subsequent generations of artists jondos, who is now celebrating forty years on stage. On this occasion, he will also be accompanied by the unmistakable sonanta of another maestro, the Sevillian Rafael Riqueni, Andalusian Culture Award, National Critics Award, Giraldillo for Mastery at the XVIII Biennial of Flamenco and Compass of the Cante, among other recognitions.
Along with the teachings of Linares and Riqueni, you can enjoy three personal singers who defend their own echo, such as Peter the Granain, the Cadiz woman Incarnate Ring and the Moorish woman Ana Ramírez 'La Yiya', that will fill the courtyard of the Fuenlonguilla with their echo, a place that on this day is filled with the scent of aromatic herbs such as rosemary, thyme and lavender in an effort to keep the traditions of the gathering alive. They will be accompanied on this magical night by the guitars of Edu Espín, Salvador Gutiérrez, Patrocinio Jr., Antonio Carrión and Pituquete.
The icing on the cake, before the traditional end of the party, will be provided by the dancer Eva Yerbabuena, recently recognized with the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award which is awarded to the world's leading figures in dance. The Granada native, who has been setting standards with her dancing for decades in major international theaters and festivals, will arrive here accompanied by her usual cast, with the complicit guitar of Paco Jarana, to delight the audience with a recital of flamenco intimate place where you can see her dance in all her splendor.
