Born in Jerez de la Frontera, Ana Crisman, the first and only artist to compose and perform flamenco With the harp, she will present her debut album to the public for the first time, Arpaora, on March 1st within the framework of the 29th Jerez Festival. A work that will mark a milestone in the history of flamenco being the first album of this genre to feature the harp as the main instrument. Arpaora offers a tour of the wide range of styles flamencos that the artist dominates with this instrument.
In this album, which will also go on sale on March 1, Crismán collects his own compositions through the palos flamencos most representative, with lyrics that speak of the enchantment she feels with the south of Spain. Uniting tradition and avant-garde, the artist fuses touch, rhythm and language flamenco with the infinite expressiveness of the harp, an ancient instrument that, in his hands, expresses itself with duende flamenco more pure.
La The Apostles Winery by Gonzalez Byass will host the staging of this work. In it, the artist will have the company, as guest artists, of some of the singers who have collaborated on the album, such as The Macanita, Vicente Soto 'Deafness' and Jose Valencia, in addition to its cast, with Roe deer dew y Rosa Gómez at palmas, and the percussion of parakeet navarro.
«Bringing together tradition and avant-garde, the artist fuses touch, rhythm and language flamenco with the infinite expressiveness of the harp, an ancient instrument that in his hands expresses itself with duende flamenco purest»
Thus, Ana Crismán will show her findings of new nuances and possibilities in the flamenco through this original proposal that was born as a result of his foray into unexplored territory with the aim of investigating the infinite sonority of the harp, enabling this instrument to express all the styles of flamenco without losing its own personality and stamp.
This world premiere completes the launch of Arpaora after the presentation of the EP at the Chicago World Music Festival (USA) and the Work in progress from the album at the last edition of the Jerez Festival, whose first single, Zambra of the light, can be heard on all digital platforms. A composition that features the collaboration of the musician Jorge Pardo on the flute, the backing vocals of Rosa Gómez and Rosario Heredia, and Javier Mera on percussion.
The artist, who has created and developed self-taught techniques to convert the harp into an instrument of this genre, discovering its expressiveness and depth in its different palos, will pass through different stages in Madrid in the coming months (Valdeolmos-Alalpardo and Aranjuez, on February 8 and 9, respectively) to continue, after the premiere of Arpaora at the Jerez Festival, in Vienna (Radio Kulturhaus, on March 7), Almería (with the support of the Princess of Girona Foundation, within the Princess of Girona CongresFest, on March 11) and returning to Madrid to participate in the Ellas Crean Festival (March 15) presenting Arpaora in trio format.
